My position on this is the more you limit the top tier of the game, the less appealing the game is to those who get locked out as a result. Less appealing means less flex purchases.

That would be bad for GLB longevity.

One solution for weak leagues is to market the game when it goes "gold" to get more agents.

The other is to eliminate World League and replace it with a Day 42-46 World Championship Tournament, and merge those 32 teams into the 8 national pro leagues, adding four quality teams per league. This does reduce the teams at the top some, but not as drastically as you suggest. It would also distribute the dots in those teams more evenly as dots would not flock to the top 32 teams but just the contending teams in the Nat Pros.

You aren't really limiting the top tiers by condensing the Pro league down 4 leagues. seriously look how many teams are in that age bracket that either aren't full teams or are just there getting pummeled. most users on this site want good competition. no one likes the 100 point wins/losses. so by getting rid of some teams and actually making it so that there are enough players in existence to fill all the remaining teams that makes the competition alot better. Yes all of us have heard the argument that people are doing Bort a favor by owning crappy teams so that the crappies built players have a place to play. but that is not helping the game like you are trying to portrait.

Myself when I look at a game I want to play a game that is competitive. and I know going in that if I do not work to make my players builds better or my coordinating better that I will never be competitive. so basically it comes down to the users. either we can look at the upper levels of the game as what they should be and that is the most competitve levels there are. or we can basically look at it like the special olympics and start just giving people ribbons for just competing. myself I say if a team can't compete enough to stay at the Pro ranks then let them fall by the wayside and better teams pass them by. I know if my team can't cut the mustard it needs to be passed by better teams.

I think if bort just went through, and grabbed all of the regional pro teams filled with lvl 79's, and made them promote to National Pro instead of hiding in regional pro to pad stats and get easy trophies, then the pro leagues would be A LOT more competitive, even with the amount of pro leagues we have right now.

Knowing I'll never see the Donkey Kong kill screen doesn't affect my enjoyment of the game.

There just aren't that many of those teams. I'm looking at one in RPE#1 West that, yeah, is 79 across the board, but they're all in decline. Meanwhile, there are at least three teams with mostly 66s and 67s that left that conference to move into a Pro league.
