+1. Since we got the ability to directly hold back players to block, this became the way it should be done.

can't agree more. Perhaps it could have a different color assigned to it, if the default of the play is the player to block.
edit: of course this would need to add a third option to the drop down "run route", as currently I think they just have "play default" and "pass block" for HBs and FBs
