Round 2 Recap
#1 5th Masterminds vs #4 Monmouth Evil Monkeys
Prediction - Masterminds win 48-17.
Actual - Materminds win 37-21. MEM put up over 80% of their yards and all their points in the 4th quarter. If not for that, this game was a snoozer.
#2 Chicago Hedgehogs vs #6 Arkham Asylum Jokers
Prediction - Hedgehogs win 27-17.
Actual - Hedgehogs win 24-17. I just about nailed this one. The Hedgehogs had a huge 2nd quarter and then put it away with a TD in the 4th.
#1 Las Vegas Gold Diggers vs #4 Nashville Hounds
Prediction - Hounds win 24-20.
Actual - Hounds win 40-18. After a close first quarter, Nashville turned it on and dominated Vegas on both sides of the ball.
#2 Oakland Suppressors vs #6 Richey Royals
Prediction - Oakland wins 17-9.
Actual - Oakland wins 44-21. The Royals just weren't quite ready for this one. They moved the ball fairly well, but just couldn't shut down the Oakland offense.
Round 3 Predictions
OK, I redeemed myself this week and went 2-0 in both conferences. Let's see if I can continue my streak of perfection.
Western Conference
#1 5th Masterminds vs #2 Chicago Hedgehogs - If we polled those "in the know" at the start of the season about who they though would be squaring off in the western conference finals I'm sure most would've picked these two teams. The Masterminds have cruised through the season with their closest game being their 16 point win over MEM (who coincidentlly hung more points on the Masterminds than anyone else during the regular season). As much as I feel this is Chicago's year for a return trip to the WL, I'm just not sure they'll be able to pull this one off. Masterminds win 37-16.
Eastern Conference
#4 Nashville Hounds vs #2 Oakland Suppressors - Is it safe to pick against Nashville at this point? I don't know that anyone saw their absolutely dominant performance against Vegas in the second round. That said, Oakland has been in some dogfights this season and always found a way to come out on top. In the regular season Oakland needed a huge 4th quarter to secure the win. I don't think either team will be able to come behind from double digits in this one if it comes to that in this contest. As I write more, its just me trying to figure out how to call this game. It should be a classic. If its close, I'll give the nod to Oakland. If its a not close, I give the nod to Nashville....aww, crap. Nashville wins 34-21.
