I'm not suggesting removing the salary cap.
However, what I am suggesting is revisiting the salary cap levels for the league. Prior to the accelerated player development that was instituted, if you renegotiated player salaries mid season then you could use a "minimum" contract with a +3 morale for the entire team and you were well under the salary cap for the remainder of the season and still had room to provide additional salary to positions that you many want a higher morale boost at (QB, RB, WR, or whatever). You were never able to do this with an entire team though. But, the base salary for the team worked.
With players gaining levels so quickly now, especially during the season most often times if you renegotiate contracts mid season to get a jump on seeing where needs are, etc to avoid having to mass generate 55 contracts during the off season or to make sure your dots are tied up for the upcoming season prior to day 40, etc.
You find yourself over the salary cap because players develop so quickly now and must pay luxury taxes not for having players at the highest age/level for a league, but just for trying to get a jump on recruiting/team needs for upcoming season/etc.
My suggestion: Revisit either player minimum salaries/morale boost and/or revisit the salary cap levels for each league.
