We have run play type % adjustments, inside/outside, direction(L-R) and ball carrier selection %.

Is it possible to add a position selection % onto the run play type?

Say my tactics are :

Inside Run Percentage
40%
+
Outside Run Percentage
60%
=
100%

Now add

Inisde Run Position Selection
20% HB
+
80% FB
= 100%

Outside Run Position Selection
90%HB
+
10%FB
=100%

So for this example the FB will have a greater chance to get the carry on an inside run play, than the RB.

I just thought this might add a little more control to the run game, over the base %s we have now for HB?FB/Qb running across all play types.

I wouldnt think this would over complicate basic game planning. If anything it would take ball carrier selection from bare basic, to basic. Plus I think it would allow us to utilize the HB/FB tandem more in casual, without selling one or the other short.

Perhaps I am wrong, maybe someone can link me a team that uses a FB and HB adequately in their casual offense, without selling the other short, and not having one or the other used in situations where they might not necessarily use them.

Defense needs a counter

I'd rather see playbook based. Like if you went 50% SB Big and 50% Shotgun, you could call SB Big 60% run and 40% pass. Then Shotgun 70% pass, 30% run, etc. Still keeps it more casual.

Defense doesn't need a counter, in my mind, because they already can set spies by position and percent, and blitz percentages and how many to send, and other things. Offense needs a counter. Something like these would be it.

+1 to some version of OP and mine

Um, since when can Defence have a choice in how many blitzers to send? You cant even choose what defenders to blitz, let alone how many.

Spies do one thing, stop rushing QB's. Try using a spy when theres no rushing QB, your fuked. Theres no control over it. How are those counters??

How does a Defence stop a RB who sets to run outside 100% outside left, while the Offense also gets to set a tactic of 100% FB run middle?

Not Casual

How does that make a difference to defense play call? Right now we set inside/outside %s, and HB/RB %s. So if I am set to 80% outside run right now, with a slim chance the FB carries it, you are going to need to defend it differently than you would have to defend me being set to 80% outside run, with only the RB carrying the ball?

Maybe you can elaborate why you think the defense cannot stop the offense if you can select a HB to run every outside play, while a FB runs the inside plays? Why because the defense doesnt get a freebie, when the often lower level speed FB takes an outside run?

The Problem is when you look at a teams O strength, you defend appropriately. So if a team is winning on the backs of outside runs left and right, the ONLY things you can do is sell the farm by setting outside run 100%, strong and weak formation 50% each. Now with your tactics, how is a team supposed to defend a mostly bread-and-butter offense of outside runs by HB's AND a FB specifically set to run inside.......

Is the D just supposed to put 50% on every defense tactic and cross fingers?

The way it is now is fine, if you want to use a FB more inside, up his run % and up the inside % more BUT be prepared that that FB will have to run outside too.

Agreed with Avenger. the only way its fair is if the defense gets a boost too.

This would make Casual into Not Casual.

If I had to guess, this is NGTH.
