there needs to be a poke button on team chat or something just so they get an alert or a sound telling them that there is someone else in chat with them, people are often on another tab or window and dont check back

I kind of disagree. I think one of the biggest things missing from this game is the social aspect. I think having chat be completely re-implemented in to a more thought-out design would be a huge improvement to the game. there is quite a few chat libraries that gives that old facebook style chat, I think doing something like that and merging it with the "friends" list and teams you're involved with would help a lot, then you can see who's logged in all the time to chat rather then needing to use a tab and requiring flash installed and such.
