If you're having to spend points in tackling you probably didn't spend enough in your majors at the beginning or you've ignored secondaries. Pls post the build.
my question actually is whether there is any reason to spend anything on tackling for a kicker anymore, but I am certainly interested in all-round improvement too...
Several things on the build front: 1. train/cap jumping. 2. If your kicking isn't natural 100 at level 68, you probably didn't go high enough there to begin with. However, that's too late to rectify. 3. why did you take boomer if you wanted vision > strength? That kind of explains the lower eff level. 4. automatic would have been a far better choice than mt% even though I don't think it provides much help.
As for tackling...returners have a VA called Special Teamer. Combining this with their normally agi/spd heavy builds you're looking at attempting to tackle a guy that is 3 times as fast and twice as agile as you. Early on you can get tackles. Later in life it's unlikely you'll get close enough to even have a chance (how many tackles has your kicker made or missed in the past 5 seasons?). The only thing that would change this would be for you to build your kicker to look like a STOP - which would be silly. 64/62 speed/agi is not going to catch a guy with 170/110.
It's a fine goal to want to help out your coverage team. However, you're much better focusing on getting the ball out of the back of the endzone (high kicking) and kicking accurate field goals (high kicking/vision/conf/str + secondaries).
In a round about way, you got to what I wanted to know, Thanks.
My K is doing okay with tb's and field goals. My whole question was based on exactly what you were saying about KR guys. My K hasn't missed a tackle, maybe ever and certainly not in several seasons, he hasn't been close enough to miss a tackle, or to make a tackle.
