IMO - natural strength and speed are too low for the level, and will have a hard time making him fast enough to ever be effective.

And agility is low if that's all you're taking it to

Is speed that big a factor? And has there been any testing on the concept of a back to drain energy off an oline? I don't expect him to be one of the "leading" backs stat wise per season, but I'm thinking of team effectiveness on a game to game basis. As a backup RB last season with 265 touches I was still able to break off 2800+ yards and 48 tds mostly due to having 271 broken tackles.

As for AEQ there is a piece on there for for Power Through, and building a break tackle item atm.

Just a few big mistakes we all do the first, second, third ....well it takes awhile to get building right

You need to stick to one attribute and bring it to where you want. When you spread points out it doesn't work.

For instance strength was your 1st attribute. I would have gone 81+ . That means going to 81 and not putting skill points into any of the other attributes.

After that you got your 2nd attribute. 77+ at least

And so on.

You probably have had decent success with the build but in one or two seasons it will come to complete halt.

Best advice play it out, enjoy the player, but learn to build before you start another.

That dot can be effective in Regional Pro "Competitive", but once you reach the real Pros or even an "Elite" Regional pro league, the lack of speed will kill him. You wont be able to wear a defense down if its 3 and out every time.

The 72 con is interesting thou.............

I'm just wondering though, between the lines, how much can speed matter. If "conventional" fb numbers apply, if a back can average 4ypc, he can be effective enough to keep the chains moving even with moderate gains from a passing game. from what I've seen even at the high end, the worst seasons people are having they average more than that, even up into the world league. It's what made me wonder if the ability to break enough tackles can compensate.

I don't think the build would work as a feature back, but with a reasonable amount of carries a game (12-15) I think it could work to a team's advantage. I'm not really much of a stat hog and prefer to build a char that can help a team win overall, so take that angle into account as well. I'm not interested in mvp trophies as much as I am seeing the teams I play on win championships.

I'll take the advice on the next build for sure Kotoll, thanks for the tips. and Foshizzle, would love to know what makes the con so interesting. I'm mostly a newb that's putzed a bunch of players but never built anything seriously. Starting to get a bit more involved these days.

How is 12-15 carries going to wear down a defense? Especially when the DL is going to have at least 2-3 players with over 140 strength playing all the time?

You also have to get to the LOS before the defensive players break their blocks. A HB with 80-90 speed is going to take a long time getting to LOS. DL will have started breaking blocks, and the 140+ speed LBs and safeties will already be converging on him by the time he gets to the LOS. A fast blitzing LB may actually catch him from behind before he even gets to the LOS.

Thanks for the input Rage. Guess I'll enjoy this DOT for now and rebuild the concept from scratch for next season

Especially the second one, watch how the D converges. Even if my HB breaks a tackle, he's done for.

I like the 'idea' of your build, and theoretically it's a good one, My examples aren't exactly pertinent to your build idea, but it helps show the need for at least some speed just to get to the LOS. My HB (elusive, but with 61 STR) has 145 SPD and 86 AGI with juke, spin, break tackle%, short yardage monster, etc. He really shouldn't be dead meat but he certainly is in his first national pro season.

Thanks for the examples Montclaire. I wonder what the effectiveness of a power runner that's plays are set to run up the gut to shorten the time to get to the LOS. I think everyone's sold me on a DOT's need for speed (going to be doing another build similar next season from scratch. Again thanks for the info as it's all been extremely helpful

lack of SYM on these PB builds just sickens me.

That's actually a change I regret making this year, I reset and redid my VA's for the 10 punishing runner to begin testing the build. Not sure if I want to hold punishing runner at 10 and restart SYM again or just do a reset next season a redistribute some pts from workout warrior and bruiser.
