Oceania Pro League Week 2 Matchups
Southbend Rhinocopters @ Deadwood Mules
Both of these teams have a few major things in common. They're kickers are fuckin' rock! They can't seem to get to the endzone, and they like giving other teams free opportunities, or at least that's what the fumbles and interceptions would leave us to believe. Listen, no one is perfect, well, not when it comes to this game anyway. One of these teams has an opportunity to prove that their Kicker isn't the only guy who should be getting paid. I mean to be completely honest, other than the fact that neither offense was anywhere to be found, both of these teams played very well against their opponents in week 1. (Or at least the score would suggest that). I gave you guys a lot of props in week 1. In week 2 you need to make me believe I had a reason to.
Northwood Trojans @ Easter Island Moai
Last week I gave Kansas City a really good shot at contending against Easter Island, that won't happen again when it comes to KC. But Northwood squeaked by Kona last week, while Easter Island was firing on all cylinders. This should be no secret by Northwood better not put the ball on the ground like they did against Kona because Easter Island will make them pay severely. Easter Island might just be a serious contender only time will tell and if Northwood hopes to share the same hype, now is the time to prove they deserve to.
San Diego Supa Chargers @ Kona Gold
San Diego has me really wondering whether they deserve to be in a write-up or not, but for arguements sake I'm going to give it them here. Kona lost a VERY close game against Northwood last week, where they just couldn't seem to capatalize on opportunity. This week they may benefit from playing a team that looks good on paper but may not have nearly the substance I give them credit for. I suppose the only other question is, does Kona have the substance I think they do?
Razorback Nation @ Sumatra Seahawks
I take my hat is off to you Razorback, you did what you had to against a squash team in week 1. Same with you Sumatra. Here's the thing, this game is going to be uglier than Christmas Day at your mother in laws house. FOr those of you who are married, you know exactly what I'm saying. On the off chance I'm wrong, I put it in my write-up but I do truly think that Sumatra is one of the major favorites in the Zeta league so, how does this matchup pan out for RN? Not very well I fear.
Amsterdam Bulls @ Compton Panthers
Here is a question. Is homefield advantage enough of an edge to put down your opposition? Here's an answer. Not in Compton's case. Do I really think this game is going to be close? No, but hey, there's upsets once in a while, so who says Compton couldn't pull something out of their ass and whip the Bulls? I'm not saying that's going to happen, in fact I think this one is going to be a blowout, but on the off chance I'm wrong TWICE in 1 write-up, I figured I'd show some love to Amsterdam
Oceania Pro Alpha Conference Game of the Week
Banzai Pipline 'Nites @ Buda Pests
Neither of these teams proved anything in terms of where they stand in week 1. However, that isn't their fault, it was simply that they each played a Pop warner squad worther of a girl scout reunion. They did prove that they are capable of putting up great stats, but can they put those types of stats up against an oppononent that is equal to their talents? I do whole heartedly think this is going to be a very low scoring defensive struggle, but I also think that when the going gets tough, don't bet against the pests.
Oceania Pro Zeta Conference Game of the Week
Prague Panthers @ Gold Coast Vipers
I was on the edge here but Prague just missed out on being in the write-up last week against Brantford, a team that I actually thought would BEAT Prague.. man did I get that one wrong. So Prague, you have my attention, now you get a reward in the form of a 'cookie'. Don't disappont me. Gold Coast walked through week 1 without any competition at all. They are currently ranked #1 in the league but in all fairness they're tied with like 4 teams. Both of these teams have a statement to make, for one fo these teams its' going to be 'We can stand up against ANY top team in the league'. For the other, it might just be, "we're not for real."
