It's been awfully quiet around here, so let's get our asses in gear and start enjoying Season 22.

Disclaimer: I use Effective Level, LOLbars, team history, chemistry, roster size, and whether I like you or not to create my preseason rankings. Argue away if you like. However, if you get too bent about it, all I can say is: make your own rankings.

Top Ten (sort of)

#1 - SoCal BDC - Last season, SoCal decided to own the scrims and throw the regular season games. They won the Addicts Pro tourney and came in 3rd in the GLB Tournament. They had alot of roster change, which may cause this ranking to look questionable early on. However, I think when the season comes to an end, SoCal will look like one of the best, if not the best, team in OPL and justify this ranking.

#2 - Asau Pirates - I have to rank Asau at #2 if for no other reason than because they are in lolzeta. They start the season as the favorite to win Zeta (is this Groundhog day?), but historically speaking, that does not mean much. Will this be their season? For now, I'll say, yes.

#3 - Devonport Devils - We reloaded, but did so with an eye on OPL Gold. Our chemistry sucks (as does most teams') which might hurt us early on. However, I expect to be in the mix this season. I ranked us above Buda, simply based on our win last season. I know this is a new season, so who knows.

#4 - Buda Pests - It's hard to know where to rank the demoting WL teams, since some are parts of associations and move their players around. Still, I think Buda will do well this season and will be fighting it out with the other top Alpha teams for that spot to WL.

#5 - Banzai Pipeline 'Nites - BPN looks to have gone a bit young this season. Even so, they have the 2nd best APV and still have alot of boosts to use. I would not be surprised at all to see Banzai end up higher than this in the final ranking. The top 4 of Alpha looks very good to me.

#6 - Amsterdam Bulls - This team is young but has a very high APV. They lost several games last season, but were only really non-competitive in one of those. With more complete builds and a weak Zeta, I think Amsterdam will do very well this season.

#7 - Kingston Uprising - Not much changed roster-wise for a team that I think underperformed last season. Thus, picking them this high could be a mistake. They sport the top AVP in OPL and perfect Chemistry, which should help them in their fairly brutal early season schedule.

#8 - Hong Kong Voodoo - These guys are the wildcard in Alpha. They did pretty well last season with a young roster and should be better this season. They have an impressive ranked scrim win over Asau, which normally would give me reason to rank them above Asau. However, ranked or not, any scrim in this preseason has to be viewed as a learning scrim and can not be waited too heavily. Still, I would not be surprised if HKV does what Devonport did in Season 19 and shows the WL demotees that they are a force to be reckoned with.

#9- Gold Coast Michelin Men - Maybe it's just because I'm a Tarheel fan and he is a Wolfpack fan, but I just do not think WJ's team will be able to compete as well this season as last. If they were in Zeta, they would be a top 2 or 3 team contender. Such is OPL for this season though.

#10a/b/c - Kona Gold / Gold Coast Vipers / Prague Panthers - I guess I would really be Alpha homer if I did not at least get 3 Zeta teams in the top 10. After all, someone will finish 3rd in Zeta with alot of wins. As to which team it will be, your guess is as good as mine. For now, I am thinking it will either be Kona, GCV, or Prague.

At least we get to be a little higher before the obligatory slide to #21 where we stayed every week last season if I remember correctly. Don't let our APV fool you, we can't get it together so far on offense or defense according to the sims we've seen where we've gotten absolutely torched and shut down. But we're working on it and hopefully this chemistry won't kick us too hard in the balls...

In alpha, it will be a lot tougher. The top 4-6 teams all have a legit chance.

The problem with this is now you have 5-6 teams (maybe a bit generous) with a roster capable of taking us down all gunning to do it. I think we're stuck in pro forever

Same here!

Interesting read - never been to the PROs before, so this will make for an interesting season. Hopefully your prognostications aren't TOOOOO accurate. I know SWAT CITY will be doing everything it can to break into your top 10.
