For a Dt,

How effective, if any, is taking vision to 81+?

Tackling 81+?

22 first step and 16 shed block?

4 BB% pieces?

Change of direction on an agility based DT?

Gang Tackling, Wrapup Tackling and Diving Tackling for a DT?

Taking vision to 81+ is probably going to be too extreme. I love vision, but I think if it ends up over 77/78 (and that is at end of build) you are taking away too much from other aspects of the build. Probably going above 73/74 is a mistake, but one I'll experiment with and live with.

Taking tackling over 81 can pay big dividends as long as you also have your strength and agility high (strength + agility should equal at least 240 with at least 135 of that being in strength) and you are going to want at least 65 vision and 65 speed (although Taut might tell you you don't really need 65 speed) end build.

22 first step is a big mistake, especially for a DT. FS is one of the few SAs that I would take above 12 on some positions, but I still wouldn't go above 15 and not above 12 on a DT.

16 Shed Block would have been worthwhile 8-9 seasons ago, but it took a big hit around season 14 along with the agility DTS. Not as good as it used be. Still some merit in taking it to 10/11.

4 BB% pieces would be a huge waste. Personally, I think the 3rd piece is a waste since the most you get out of it is 6.25% for a 5% piece upgraded 10 times.

I haven't tried change direction on a DT, but I know of one agent who loves it on one of his builds. I've seen some replays that show promise, but I'm still a little skeptical on how often it actually helps, and how much it was a factor in replays I've seen. However when talking about an agility based build now, it should be defined as one where agility is almost as much as strength. (like 125 strength 120 agility)

The tackling VAs can be very good for a DT especially when mixed with the 81+ tackling build in paragraph 2.

Rage pretty much took care of it.
I think Gang Tackle has plenty of merit if you've got a strong defensive line unit against inside runs.

Was thinking of getting a SB pc of AEQ for my NT but i'm really torn.....was planning on 10 FS, 10 SB, 10 Wall and 10 BT end build aswell as a couple of pcs of BB% but i can't decide whether or not to totally ignore the top tree and get a different 4th pc of AEQ

I don't believe anyone has every tried building a serious DT with vision that high...so it's really unknown territory.

The biggest question is what else you are trying to do with the build.
