San Jose… For the fourth consecutive game, the San Jose held their opponents out of their end zone and came away with a win as they shutout the Colorado Springs Flyers 20-0 in yesterday’s action.
“I think we can hang with anyone in the league right now,” said defensive end Jiminy Christmas.
Christmas’ performance personified the Chupacabra defence as a whole, recording 2 tackles, a sack and an interception on the day. Colorado Springs managed just 88 yards on the day and were repeated denied on 3rd down attempts and harassed behind the line of scrimmage.
“Oooh I told y’all we was comin for ya,” said linebacker Demetrius McQueen, “Did you see the hit my boy Flex laid on that Thunderarm cat? Damn….”
The first quarter sack of Thunderarm seemed to set the defensive pace for San Jose as Flex Roberts shot the center-guard gap and levelled Flyers QB Rock Thunderarm. Thunderarm was slow to get up from the collision and looked timid for the rest of the game following the blow.
“This team will do anything it takes to win. If that includes putting you down hard, then son, you’re getting put down hard,” said defensive coordinator Jake Rawburst.
The Chupacabra offense took advantage of good field position throughout the game and moved the ball effectively. Running back Beau Jackson led the attack with 118 yards on the ground and both San Jose’s touchdowns.
Next week, the Chupacabra travel to Reno to face the Marauders in one of their stiffest tests of the season.
