We, the football club known as the Brisbane Gods, founded just a day ago, are very happy to announce that we have acquired the services of many talented players. We are quickly growing into a fully fledged squad and our ability to acquire the signatures of these very talented players, who will form the rock on which our future success will be built, is a good indicator of the potential that all our fans can look forward to.

Some of these players are:

The Hitman (SS):

Who, as his no-nonsense name suggests will anchor our defensive line-up from the SS position. A hard-working lad and a quick-learner he has already leaped ahead of his teammates in ability and shows great promise. He will be the nightmare of opposing receivers and running backs for years to come.

Jack Slaughter (OT):

An imposing Offensive Tackle, he will have the responsibility of protecting our rookie QB from being turned into marshmellow. Like the Hitman he is already a cut above his colleagues in ability and only look to be getting better every day.

Cordell Walker (CB): What a misnomer. This guy is no Walker. He's a full-on sprinting machine with the deft hands of a musician. Playing at Cornerback he will be instrumental in shutting down opposing passing games.

The full squad are right now at a training camp in the outbacks of Queensland. They will only have a couple of days to get to know each other before travelling around the globe to Las Vegas to face their first challenge on the road to glory.

We have every confidence that they will rise to the occasion.

Right now we have four LBs competing for the three LB places. So, I suppose so. But, if Keith Rivers hadn't decided to retire we could still have used him.

I have to say, he must have found a very lucrative job to leave the glamour world of professional sports. Either that or he's crazy.
