Not sure I agree. It depends on your goals, I suppose. As far as I'm concerned, the best time to play Sofia is in the first round, with the CCG being the worst option.

Hmm yeah. I kinda forgot that Sofia likes to throw their first round playoff games.

It's not even that. It's a question of what you put on game film.

Meanwhile, there's no reward for losing the CCG.

Then again, there's the off chance that someone else can take care of Sofia for you...leaving you with an arguably easier game for the CCG. (Arguably easier, because well...if someone beats the #1 seed they obviously need to be taken just as seriously)
