To anyone who would want to decline their promotion to Gold, why not just buy another Silver team and then sell your Gold team? You would get the same effect.

right now... but if it is done as proposed and silver leagues are cut down.. you'd be forced to buy a copper team and play a season in another uncompetitive league...

True, but as of right now, there should be absolutely no problem with "opting out" like ManOgwaR said there was. You would still have your .gifs on your profile.

but not tournament .gifs... team history... so many things a lot of people aren't willing to sacrifice.

How about this:
Say you request a demotion b/c you are going CPU but do not want to lose your tourney gifs or something of that effect. You ultimately will not be competitive. Which ever member made that promise to support should be accountable for that promise. That way if some1 demotes to Silver to just get a cheap trophy they should be put on probation. Maybe sit out for a season but they let you keep your team or you can compete in the regular season but you are not eligible to play in the playoffs.
This is a rough idea but this way every1 gets what they want, right?

it wouldnt be a cheap trophy if they cut down the number of silver leagues, allowed teams to demote when they chose... for any reason, and if they didn't let new owners and 2-14 or worse copper owners in to silver... it would be a earned trophy that you should be able to win every season if you are capable.

No...I get that... I was referring to with the system we currently have in place.
Surely with less amount of silver leagues, there would/should not be an agreement to be non competitive and a penalty if doing so.

History....for me it is what I have invested along with my agents/peers the most. All my players are one and done these days. The team is not.
Why should we give that up?
We pay to play. Place us in a league we want.
