I'm focusing on speed now to get it up to 80 natural (though I'm told I should have done it sooner), but is this guy salvageable? My last team disbanded, and I've had ZERO interest in him from new teams.

If he is salvageable, what should I be doing next?

I've also got a ton of BT's saved up, and am getting ready to buy some EQ. Was planning on getting 2 Break Tackle% pieces, and a 3rd with either Stiff Arm or Power Through. But what Attributes should I put on them? Speed, Strength, Agility, etc?

Thanks

I guess it looks like you should have kept all of the equipment in strength and get your natural speed up higher. Power backs aren't meant to break long runs from what I gather. Having strength over 110 is a must really. I'm no expert on power backs, but this is what I have come to understand.

That was just some extra speed EQ I bought a few seasons ago when it was free. I was experimenting with it the last game. Haven't bought the AEQ yet.

It's kind of controversial. I actually disagree with str over 110. I prefer mine at ~90'ish to invest in more speed. Speed is still crucial for power backs. I prefer only enough strength to trigger power SA's consistently, so I like to straddle the minimum in favor of more speed. Plus, high speed will complement the Surge SA.

Straddling the str minimum varies season to season, so I like to benchmark test it. To do this, put most all your equipment in speed (reset your EQ, if you like), leave about half your equipment points in reserve, and test in preseason (and scrimmages, if you can) assess your brTk counts each game (creampuff opponents don't count!). If your brTk totals are low, adjust your equipment accordingly with more str. If you can afford to, test in the opening regular season too, but don't tell your OC, lol.

I feel what's happening is the philosophy of the power back is changing. As defenses become faster (and smarter?), power backs need more no-nonsense quick runs up the middle to take advantage of poor defensive play-calling, such as if defenses only play four d-linemen on singleback. If the powerback is too slow, it doesn't matter what the play-call is, the defense may swarm him.

In short: Yea, he's salvageable, even under my speed philosophy. Reset some of your str normal equipment and keep piling on the speed SP's and you'll mostly be fine.
