what do you guys think about closing speed for a DE?

might be interesting on a pure speed DE for chasing down strong side runs from the weak side. Maybe if you can get to 155-160 speed and DC covers up inside blockers so the DE is unblocked at LOS.
Would probably need a defense with a LB that is built more like an extra DT for the inside.

But only if you're a stat whore who sell out a whole team just to get stats to that DE. Even at 200 speed, you're going to give up several yards until the opposite side DE could chase down the RB.

That should be the case, but in GLB unrealistic things can happen. Not sure if you were around in seasons 2 and 3 or not, but speed DEs were regularly chasing HBs down from the opposite side in the backfield. With the new blocking code, I have a feeling that if the weak side DEs are fast enough, and DC sets up defense right so that they are unblocked, they could do it again.
