My power back doesn't, and won't, have a magical 120 speed number, but he's done decently enough in CPL this year.

Of course, the entire thought behind the build was conceived back in Season 7, so you do what you can with a changing sim and changing OC tendencies. In his one World League season, he used sporadically and behind a bad offensive line for the level. The truth is that if your offensive line can't hold a block, your power back won't be any good. You can break only so many tackles.

Next season I was going to make a pure power back. Maybe I shouldn't now that I think about it with the repeat penelty.

Yea I hear ya. To avoid the spam penalty, an OC has to get creative by studying how the defense lines up in various downs and distances in different sets. Problem is, the limited inside run playbook will exacerbate the possibility of triggering the spam penalty, since even off-tackles, in my opinion, don't work for power backs. Power backs should strictly run north-south and hope to catch their opponents with insufficient men in the box. If they work the outsides, that just gives the defense more time to swarm them.

Overall, in Pro, make sure you find an OC you trust (or OC your own player). You don't want your power back running for an OC who doesn't game plan.

a well built powerback takes at least 5 seasons before he starts to produce against decent opponents. It's a patient build, but one that can pay off in the long run.

Which is why I'm glad Bort did the extended plateau. It gives players more time to enjoy their power backs.

if I was making a HB it was always an elusive back but now I like to make trio's and keep them together Elusive HB, Powerback and blocking FB (only lvl 38 so far)

their first few seasons were average but probably more to do with the teams they were on, this season though I can really see them working partly due to the way the OC uses them, my elusive guy getting more yardage as they can't focus on him as much, and as I get the powerback's speed up sweeps and pitches to him are really throwing the D off centre as they can't even focus on him going up the middle everytime
