Does that mean nobody should listen to Gerr?

By that argument, your Lunch Box team had nowhere close to the #1 defense in gold last year and didn't even make the playoffs...

But my PPM team went further than yours? So by that logic I still pwn n00bz.

KKTHNX.

I didn't come in here saying "I'm better than Gerr because I made it further in the playoffs" he clearly disagreed with me and offered the credibility that his defense was "the best" in gold last season, to which I clearly responded that the playoffs are all that matters not the little stats you manage to put up with your regular season lulzfest.

But please, do your best to make ME look like I'm an ass because I don't let Gerr walk all over me publicly.

But Gerr's defense was and is better than yours regardless of his playoff bounce.

Playoff success can be driven by offense and special teams, too, you know...like when a team wins 49-42

I've DC'ed for a team that's been in the Final Four of PW gold 4 times (with 3 different teams)...doesn't mean I'm as good as Gerr is.

Again try to make me look like the bad guy, please show me where I said I was better than Gerr... I merely discredited his attempt at steamrolling me and my opinion by stating that playoff wins are for more important than season stats...

Not to mention I have more Gold playoff wins in one season than Gerr has had in what, 4?

I'm not trying to make you out to look like a bad guy. You were simply trying to discredit Gerr's opinion by attacking his statement that he's a good DC (and that we should listen to him) b/c he had the #1 defense in gold last season by saying you went further in the playoffs than him, so you know what you're talking about.

I'm not trying to make you out to look like a bad guy. I'm simply trying to discredit your attempt to discredit Gerr. You are correct, in the big picture, playoff wins are more important than statistics. However, when deciding who to listen to when discussing the use of flat zones...I'd listen to the guy with the #1 defense over the guy who won a couple of playoff games.

If you feel that makes you look like a bad guy, I'm sorry.

By the way, Lunch Box did not finish very far outside of that "coveted" #1 defensive spot, and considering it was done on a team that passed almost every down I find that to be quite a bit more impressive than a team focused around running and ball control putting up good numbers.

Maybe what is more important is who won any game, because I'm pretty sure PPM went 15-1 last season?

Gosh... But I'm still just a bad coordinator aren't I.

My defense didn't fail that game, my offense did. I lost 21-7 in that 1st round bounce, which my offense only scored 7 points. That's a major failure in my book. Also, one of SAS's TD's was an interception return for a TD, which is the offenses fault as well. In the end, my defense only gave up 14 points that game, which is exactly what I averaged all season. Considering the higher powered offenses in Gold last season, giving up only 14 points on average wasn't easy to do.

Since you consider yourself somewhat of a defensive guru, what did your defense on PPM give up on average last season?

The simple fact is you're an average Gold DC at best, and the only reason PPM did so well is Bleeds is an outstanding Gold OC and his offense carried that team. If you had an average Gold OC on that team, I doubt you would have even made the playoffs.

So check that ego as its flying way above your actual skill level.

My ego? When did I say I was so amazing... you are the one claiming to be #1 all the time, saying I'm "average."

I'll show you how my defense, and maybe even my offense does against your squad this year, but don't worry I'm sure you'll have someone/something to give credit to besides myself.

You go ahead and implement a 90% passing offense that goes for it on almost all 4th down situations and then come to me when you are still only giving up 14 points a game.

You might have not said you were a great defensive DC, but you give advice and act like you are constantly. A perfect example is your post "Stump the Chump" where the whole purpose of that thread was to let people ask you defensive questions and you would give them advice. If that's not an ego boosting post that attempts to set you up as a defensive guru, I don't know what is.

Not saying you don't have the potential to be a very good DC, but you have not proven yourself as one yet, but give advice as if you have. I have proven myself, but I don't give advice that often and rarely mention how good I am. It's a fact that my defense was #1 in Gold last season, so I have mentioned it a couple times, but try to avoid doing so unless it serves a purpose.

With you being the HC of Lunch Box, we can see how you do this season. I presume you are the DC of that team and probably have a little more say on when to go for it on 4th, so lets see how you do this season on a team which you have a bigger influence on. If you can come up with a top 5 ranked defense in Gold, then I won't say anything else about your skills again.
