I've built a few CBs but they didn't get very far because I'm not very good at building them.

I was wondering, how would one build a good CB (statwise) whose main goal was to get interceptions?

my current lvl 15 is going to try to do so: this is the cap order im going with:
speed to 68
agility to 68
vision to 73
jumping to 68
catching to 68
SAs: 4-8-8-1-2/3-6-0-0-0/8 jumping catch
rest in strength to ~61

this is pretty close to what i get when i run it through the builder:

speed 130 (+42)
agility 95 (+12)
vision 84
jumping 75
catching 70
strength 60 (+4)
stamina 50
confidence 48
tackling 48

5-9-9-2-9
3-6-0-0-0
8 jumping catch

AEQ:
+SDC
+36% INT chance
+25% PD chance
-or-
+SDC
+25% INT chance
+25 PD chance
+25 avoid fake chance

VAs:
15 BH
15 clutch
15 FBG
15 3DS or LR
1 OTK
rest is sure tackler or soft hands soe whatever else. 5 points in something wont make a huge difference regardless of what you put it in.

I'd go vision->speed->agility tbh
get more out of fbg

That's the way to go.

Top global CB from this season:

http://goallineblitz.com/game/hof.pl?all_time=0&type=d&position=CB

Not WL, but played in EE Pro. This season had 14 regular season picks w/ 10 TDs and 2 playoff picks with a TD. Catching isn't even first capped.

the only problem with that is that you then have to bring speed up higher to compensate for the lost ALGs on speed, and with the WRs that will be coming with the advent of archetypes, CBs are going to need all the speed they can get. and then bringing speed up higher start to cut down on the amount of amount of SP you have to spend in secondaries.

unless you just go with the 68/68/73 vision/speed/agility, in which case you could wind up with 88/83/84 vision/speed/agility and with EQ that would land you right at 130/95/88 speed/ agility/vision, and then FBG would take you up to about 95 vision... which i gotta say is nice. that is definitely viable. the only issue with that is you dont have any left over EQ points to throw elsewhere... like i threw them in strength since strength plays a role in any rolls where both you and the WR are able to interact with the ball at the same time... so assuming bort knows what he is talking about, that should help with PDs and INTs, KL (as rare as they are), as well as tackling and shedding blocks. so both ways have their pros and cons.

maybe... but if you go and look at the builds that lead WL in INTs, they have catching up in the 60+ arena.

i have built all my corners the same way, tried once more vision.. not worth it IMO. Mine finished 11th in GLB this season (Sly Bailey) with 18 regular season interceptions.

ive seen several posts both by people with saigon and the blaze that have said their CBs have close to 70 catching. i guess i havent seen them to confirm. but, both siagon and the blaze have a lot of CBs up there on the WL INT leader boards.

Scheme is more important than catching, though, when it comes to getting INTs.

yeah, maybe... and dpride is probably one of the better guys for that. but when i see 2 teams having a lot of success with getting INTs, and they both say their CBs have higher than normal catching, its hard to chalk it all up to system.

i'll put it this way...

certainly doesn't hurt to have high catching if you can manage it...but you can get int's w/o it.

and i agree with that. heck my retired lvl 63 CB had 127 INTs throughout his career and only had 52 catching (which is really fairly average)... granted about half of those were from blow outs, but i definitely know that you dont necessarily need catching to get INTs. but if your building a CB specially for INTs, i dont see much reason why you wouldnt invest in catching to a fairly substantial degree. every little bit helps.
