Much as tackles have different quality, blocks seem to have different quality as well. It appears as though you can be either fully engaged (in which case you won't make many tackles) or maybe the o line just has a hand on you, in which case you can often attempt a tackle with reasonable success, if you have high tackling skills (vision helps a lot for that sort of thing btw).

i guess we all have different definitions of being blocked then. i was going on the assumption that if you were being blocked then the blocker was in between the tackler and ball carrier. but then people start talking about scenarios where the blocker is out of position and is just pushing on the defender.

rage's youtube is showing the blocker with his face on the DT's butthole..that's not what i was thinking of when i read "make tackles while being blocked". my bad

when i first asked the question, i was thinking he had a bort quote or something

There is one somewhere, but I don't follow the Bort stalker stuff. He also implied in the quote the quality of the block impacted whether the tackle roll could be made and the quality of the roll if it was made.

Actually high tackling allows you to make more tackles while being blocked.

IMO, there are 2 ways to go about it.

1. Get your tackling up into the 80's so you can make tackles while being blocked
2. Leave your tackling lower and concentrate on attributes that allow you to break the block so you don't need tackling in the 80s

Personally, I think tackling in the 70's is counter productive because it isn't high enough to make the tackles while being blocked and it means you took away extra sp from areas that would have helped you get off the block in the first place.

Which attributes would you be referring to? Does Vision play a role and how much is enough?

IMO
Strength
Agility
Speed
Vision

I'd take vision to 65-70. Even if I went with the tackling build, I'd still take vision to 65-70 because it helps with tackling as well.

it does? haven't noticed that but wouldn't put it out of the realm of possibility. wondering if you've ever tested it or anything?

i kinda like tackling to be a little higher than vision, but i agree that vision to 65ish seems pretty good to me. you can get tackling relatively high and take vis there and still have high str/agi/spe though.

It depends on your definition of high. Also, you have to consider pre and post archetype.

Pre-archetype, how high could you have taken tackling if you wanted 100 base strength, 94 base agility, 84 base speed, and 70 base vision?

How can you take tackling now if you want 100 base strength, 94 base agility, and 65 base speed and vision, and 4 pieces of AEQ?
