San Jose (AP)… Led by a stunning aerial attack by Remo Rankin, the San Jose offense finally awakened from its slumber, piling up 23 unanswered points in a shutout victory over the Minnesota Americans.

The Chupacabra dominated on both sides of the ball and cruised to a 23-0 victory to even their record at 2-2.

“Feels good…naw…(expletive) that. Feels great,” exclaimed Rankin, who passed for over 350 yards on the day and completed over 70 per cent of his passes, “I felt tuned in today, spread the ball around pretty good… This is what our offense can do.”

Rankin connected with nine different receivers on the day but his primary target was Moe Ashley. Ashley pulled in 15 passes for 190 yards in one of the most impressive receiving games this season, including a 61 yard bomb late in the first quarter.

Minnesota had trouble getting their offense started, getting near the San Jose red zone just once late in the fourth quarter on a drive killed by DeSean Jaxxson’s second interception on the day. All in all, it was a rough day at the office for Arnie Herber, being picked twice by Jaxxson and sacked twice by the relentless San Jose defence.

“They kept fighting and I give them all due credit for that,” said Jaxxson after the game, “But right now, we feel like we’re a top 5 defence in this league. If you’re comin to play the Chupacabra, y’all best pack a lunch cuz its gonna be a looooong day.”

The game had been preceded by some verbal sparring between the Americans’ kicker Jon Davidson and outspoken San Jose linebacker Demetrius McQueen. After the game, McQueen showed no animosity towards Davidson and the defeated Americans.

“I don’t feel no kind of anger towards Davidson. He was supportin’ his team and that’s what a player is supposed to good. Fact is, I think I might go for drinks with him. I think he owes me one or two for letting him have the day off and just having to kickoff once,” joked McQueen, “Their punter might be a little pissed at us though…”

“But I got a whole lotta anger ready for next week and the Bastards. My mama always told me not to whup on nice people but she never said nothin’ about a Bastard.”
