Just went shopping today for my level 18 G and have the choice between a + Shock Block item and a + Get Low item. This will be his first piece of AEQ so the location (foot, hands, etc.) does not matter at all. He has the run blocker archtype, so Get Low is a favored SA that I was planning on eventually putting points into anyway, while Shock Block is 3rd in the pass blocking tree and I didn't really have plans to sink many, if any, points into that tree. So which one do you guys think would be the better item to buy? I'm currently thinking Shock Block since I can easily put lots of points into Get Low without using AEQ. Not sure how well either SA works in the sim though, anyone have any insight for me?

Get Low.

It is one of those rare SAs that actually seems to work.

When you can, add +3 Strength to this piece and it will be a good one to have.

I must agree
Go with what is known
Get Low will save you in the long run by only having to put 4 maybe 6 natural in it.

Thanks for the quick feedback. So it sounds like Shock Block doesn't actually work all that well then, but Get Low does.

Shock Block works pretty well too, but Get low, pancake, and a couple of others make shock block a little less desirable. If you were a pass blocking LOT I would say to get the shock block over the Get low.

IIRC, we actually have more evidence that Shock Block works than Get Low. We know that Shock Block is basically the OL's version of the "stun" move DL innately have to break blocks. A DL player getting "frozen" for a couple ticks on the pass rush can be attributed to a Shock Block firing on them. Get Low doesn't fire on the PBP (i.e. like Balance or Spin) and any "pushback" could just as well be attributed to the normal run blocking interaction, so there's no hard evidence it actually works. We just assume it does because some dudes invested in it back in the day and felt like it helped them perform better. ;/

At any rate, I endorse the Get Low piece as well. Favored SA, we think it works, etc. I can't say the same for Pancake...

p.s. You can see the shock block firing, but you can't see it working

As for Get Low, I've seen players with way, way less strength than the opposition but this SA at 10 who can move them back 5+ yards in a rushing play up the middle.
