Mr Reliable
Hold onto the ball! On 1st down, each level of Mr. Reliable gives a +3% bonus to avoiding fumbles. On 3rd and 4th down, each level of Mr. Reliable gives a +2% bonus to catching and holding on to passes.

Possesion Receiver
This player catches short passes with ease. Each level of Posession Receiver gives a +2% bonus to making catches shorter than 8 yards, when playing WR or TE.

I enjoy reading the VA debates and was curious if there were any strong feelings in regards to one versus the other of these options.

I would choose Possession Receiver over Mr. Reliable on the sole reason that Possession can be activated on every play while Mr. Reliable can only benefit the receiver on 3rd and 4th downs.

Its debatable that 3rd and 4th downs are the most important plays in the game. Plus, you can have up to 20 3rd downs in the game, and it works ANYWHERE, not just under 8 yards. Mr. Reliable is definitely better than clutch.

I'll take neither for 100 Alex. Soft Hands all the way.

So will I. In addition to both mr reliable and soft hands. The 4 points you get from catching wont give you a 30% chance to catch the ball on 3rd, when its most important. In this game, you have to catch the ball to juke and break tackles...which is hard to do as is.

Actually, possession WR is very good. It will allow you to prevent knocked loos rolls a ton. You didnt put the rest of possession WR VA description down, heres the rest of it: and a +2% bonus to resist having the ball knocked loose by a tackle when playing WR/TE. Thats pretty invaluable on any down. It would stack nicely again with Mr. Reliable on 3rd and 4th downs.

The thing is, it depends on the build and what routes your WR runs in the offensive scheme.

If OC has him running a bunch of short crossing routes, then possession WR is better. If he is running longer routes and the team runs a lot on 1st and 2nd down the Mr. Reliable is better.

There isn't a universal answer.

This. I tend to prefer Mr. Reliable because most of my routes shorter than 8 yards are thrown to HBs/TEs and it's effectively a 30% Catch Ball bonus on third down. Then again, if you run a ton of short drags/crosses, Possession Receiver could be worthwhile.

In any case, Soft Hands is nowhere near as useful as either of them--the only attribute VA I'd consider for a WR is Track Star (unless you're building an extreme possession guy, in which case High Jumping/Soft Hands could be options).

Where your proof? I'd rather have the equivalent of 20 skill points from the +5 catching. Unless you know what % +5 catching adds and what the catching % is so you can figure out what the 30% of the catching roll relates to, you got nothing, but a one down VA. I'd rather have a better chance to catch the ball on 1st and 2nd making 3rd down VAs useless.
