I'm training up 3 LBs (all on just level 3 right now, gonna be level 4 after tomorrow's game)

My MLB I'm focusing on strength agility & vision, and his speed is gonna be pretty darn low. I think he'll be incredible at shedding blocks, though.
My LOLB I'm focusing on speed (especially), but also vision and agility. I envision him being a coverage guy.
My ROLB I'm focusing on speed vision agility and confidence. He's not gonna be a burner like the ROLB, but I'll see how having high confidence will affect his stats.

My guess is that strength and agility are the two main attributes for shedding blocks. I'm setting up my MLB to be a beast at shedding blocks. I think vision and confidence would also have some effect here.

And then speed & agility would be the two main attributes for pass coverage, with jumping slightly less important, and catching as well if you want your LB to try for INTs rather than just PDs. I don't think its worth it to put much of anything into catching.

I think Speed, Vision, and Tackling would be the main attributes for making tackles across the field. Its quite possible for a OLB to make tackles on the other side of the field. For those, Speed would be by far the most important, but for getting around blockers to stop a run to your side or a run up the middle would use speed vision, and agility.

As for the top LBs in the NFL, here's my take:
Shawn Merriman, Brian Urlacher, Ray Lewis, Patrick Willis, DJ Williams for the top 5
I'd put DeMarcus Ware, Jon Beason, Kirk Morrison, London Fletcher, and Will Witherspoon as rounding out the top 10.

I think that Nick Barnett is a better LB than AJ Hawk right now, although as Hawk gets more experience, I don't know how long that will be true.

Urlacher is not overrated, he's a great pass defender.

Urlacher's not the end all be all LB he used to be. There's probably 6-7 LB's at least I'd rather have before I picked him.

Urlacher led all LBs with 12 passes defensed last year, and was tied for 2nd with Bulluck for interceptions among LBs with 5

He also had 5 sacks, so he wasn't a purely coverage LB, he did his share of blitzing

And he was still top 10 in tackles

All this despite being such a well known player that other teams game planned with him in mind, and he put up those stats anyways

He's not even the best LB on his team anymore.

Right now Briggs is a better player.

It's easy to put up numbers when your offense is terrible and you're on the field 75% of the game.

If you've ever come up against JUKE/SPIN backs you know that your vision and agility have to be VERY high.
