San Jose’s first defeat of the year came with the drama of a Hollywood feature. Yesterday’s 9-0 loss to the South Otto Fragile Porcelain Mice was more like reading the encyclopedia.
“I feel bad for the fans,” said Chupacabra running back Beau Jaxson, “Our homeopener and we can barely keep our offense on the field.”
Indeed, San Jose’s offense could find no answers to the South Otto defensive scheme which didn’t allow San Jose past their 30 yard line all game. San Jose accounted for a mere 139 yards in offence on the day.
The loss drops the Chupacabra to 0-2 with a tough game up next in the Over the Rhine Red Dots who are establishing themselves as the top offense in the western conference this year.
“They’ve got a great offense but our defense has been playing blood n’ guts football. They will NOT run up the score against us. I don’t care if we’ve gotta claw, bite and kick out kneecaps,” promised defensive coordinator Jake Rawburst.
“This team will be back….I guarantee it. The pieces are comin into place baby. It’s a long season and we can make up for a slow start.,” said Demetrius McQueen when asked about San Jose’s prospects for the rest of the season.
The San Jose-OTR game will be shown on channel 31 at 6 p.m. following Baywatch.
