WEEK THREE
GOTW: Blue Renegade Wino Smurfs of Funkalicious Labatt (2-0) at Portland Dirty Penguins (2-0)
OTHERS:
NAGA
Palembang Drunken Monks (2-0) at Saigon Whores (2-0)
Alabama Tidesports Crimson Tide (1-1) at Hong Kong Hustlers (1-1)
GARUDA
Buffalo Rampage (2-0) at Lucid DREAM (2-0)
Hell's Reapers (1-1) at Singapore Canes (1-1)
=============OVERVIEW =============
Week two was a good one for the experts, who went 5-0 including picking the Canes' win by a narrow margin.
But Week 3 is when it starts to get a little more difficult. The lolgames are further behind us and we have a regular season body of work starting to shape up from which we can better judge the teams.
Unfortunately, though, the panel of experts is a little bit thinner today -- partly because it's the weekend, partly because Tiger and Phil are going for a green jacket, and partly because some of our wussy experts shy away from the tough games. (Kidding)
But we go with what we've got, and what we've got is the mountainous, manly picks of MDterpsBBall03, the filthy waddling insights of Dujoman, the drunken blue ramblings of MadCow, the offensive Tets of CMON, the wise witticisms of kcfdx, and the "I'm affiliated with every team in the league" prognostications of driftinggrifter. Only Dujo decided to take the plunge of picking both conferences this week.
We only have two people making picks for Garuda this week, so I'll provide the tie-breaking vote if needed.
=============HAOLE'S GAME OF THE WEEK =============
Blue Renegade Wino Smurfs of Funkalicious Labatt (2-0) at Portland Dirty Penguins (2-0)
NAGA CONFERENCE
This is the biggest game of the year so far in Naga. By far. Why? Because I said so -- but also because both teams are legitimate contenders for the No. 2 slot behind Saigon, and the winner of this game will have the inside track toward achieving that goal.
The Penguins have looked completely solid in two games, a pair of nearly identical 32-6 and 34-6 wins over Singapore and the Teabaggers. It was nothing flashy, but then again penguins aren't flashy -- especially dirty ones. Penguins who will wallow in the mud are the same kind of penguins that would shank Morgan Freeman's old ass during the middle of a snowbank riot.
The Smurfs have also faced some good competition in both games this year, and they dominated both teams in a somewhat surprising fashion. In fact, their 82-10 steamrolling of Alabama last week was a beatdown of epic dot proportions: a 2:1 yardage advantage, an 11-minute TOP advantage, 7 forced fumbles, 8 sacks and 12 forced punts. These Smurfs have begun to look more like Hefty than the Vanity they showcased last season.
Is there anything more interesting to watch than Smurfs and Penguins getting it on?
THE EXPERTS: Penguins 3, Smurfs 2
<0> driftinggrifter <0>
Both are solid squads, but I'm going to say the winner from last season is the loser of this season. (going based off of my previous matches with them.) PDP wins 24-21
<0> kcfdx <0>
Smurfs - Texan came out with his own tongue in cheek twist on the ever popular brag thread. But it's hard to compete with seasoned masters of the craft such as MadCow. Brag threads aside, I give the Smurfs a slight edge in this one, although I think it will be a close contest.
<0> MadCow DTD <0>
The blue vs PDP, a matchup of 2 DTD Teams, and 2 pretty good SEAPL teams. This is hard because this is the first real test for each of these teams this season. Its a good thing i dont do AI for The Blue because I'm Drunk right now, and I'm sure Texan is drunk too, but he runs the defense. Thats why The blue win by 3
<0> MDterps <0>
PDP looked strong holding both of their opponents to only 6 points. Their defense led by Adam Parker who already has 8 sacks on the season looks as nasty as ever. The Blue have yet to be tested this season, blowing their first two matchups out of the water. This game will be close. I'm gonna pick PDP by a score of 23-20.
<0> Dujoman <0>
Im going with the home team here. PDP is very close to WL level and Smurfs need one more season to reach that.
