WEEK THREE
GOTW: Blue Renegade Wino Smurfs of Funkalicious Labatt (2-0) at Portland Dirty Penguins (2-0)

OTHERS:
NAGA
Palembang Drunken Monks (2-0) at Saigon Whores (2-0)
Alabama Tidesports Crimson Tide (1-1) at Hong Kong Hustlers (1-1)
GARUDA
Buffalo Rampage (2-0) at Lucid DREAM (2-0)
Hell's Reapers (1-1) at Singapore Canes (1-1)

=============OVERVIEW =============

Week two was a good one for the experts, who went 5-0 including picking the Canes' win by a narrow margin.

But Week 3 is when it starts to get a little more difficult. The lolgames are further behind us and we have a regular season body of work starting to shape up from which we can better judge the teams.

Unfortunately, though, the panel of experts is a little bit thinner today -- partly because it's the weekend, partly because Tiger and Phil are going for a green jacket, and partly because some of our wussy experts shy away from the tough games. (Kidding)

But we go with what we've got, and what we've got is the mountainous, manly picks of MDterpsBBall03, the filthy waddling insights of Dujoman, the drunken blue ramblings of MadCow, the offensive Tets of CMON, the wise witticisms of kcfdx, and the "I'm affiliated with every team in the league" prognostications of driftinggrifter. Only Dujo decided to take the plunge of picking both conferences this week.

We only have two people making picks for Garuda this week, so I'll provide the tie-breaking vote if needed.

=============HAOLE'S GAME OF THE WEEK =============

Blue Renegade Wino Smurfs of Funkalicious Labatt (2-0) at Portland Dirty Penguins (2-0)
NAGA CONFERENCE

This is the biggest game of the year so far in Naga. By far. Why? Because I said so -- but also because both teams are legitimate contenders for the No. 2 slot behind Saigon, and the winner of this game will have the inside track toward achieving that goal.

The Penguins have looked completely solid in two games, a pair of nearly identical 32-6 and 34-6 wins over Singapore and the Teabaggers. It was nothing flashy, but then again penguins aren't flashy -- especially dirty ones. Penguins who will wallow in the mud are the same kind of penguins that would shank Morgan Freeman's old ass during the middle of a snowbank riot.

The Smurfs have also faced some good competition in both games this year, and they dominated both teams in a somewhat surprising fashion. In fact, their 82-10 steamrolling of Alabama last week was a beatdown of epic dot proportions: a 2:1 yardage advantage, an 11-minute TOP advantage, 7 forced fumbles, 8 sacks and 12 forced punts. These Smurfs have begun to look more like Hefty than the Vanity they showcased last season.

Is there anything more interesting to watch than Smurfs and Penguins getting it on?

THE EXPERTS: Penguins 3, Smurfs 2

<0> driftinggrifter <0>
Both are solid squads, but I'm going to say the winner from last season is the loser of this season. (going based off of my previous matches with them.) PDP wins 24-21

<0> kcfdx <0>
Smurfs - Texan came out with his own tongue in cheek twist on the ever popular brag thread. But it's hard to compete with seasoned masters of the craft such as MadCow. Brag threads aside, I give the Smurfs a slight edge in this one, although I think it will be a close contest.

<0> MadCow DTD <0>
The blue vs PDP, a matchup of 2 DTD Teams, and 2 pretty good SEAPL teams. This is hard because this is the first real test for each of these teams this season. Its a good thing i dont do AI for The Blue because I'm Drunk right now, and I'm sure Texan is drunk too, but he runs the defense. Thats why The blue win by 3

<0> MDterps <0>
PDP looked strong holding both of their opponents to only 6 points. Their defense led by Adam Parker who already has 8 sacks on the season looks as nasty as ever. The Blue have yet to be tested this season, blowing their first two matchups out of the water. This game will be close. I'm gonna pick PDP by a score of 23-20.

<0> Dujoman <0>
Im going with the home team here. PDP is very close to WL level and Smurfs need one more season to reach that.

=============THE BEST OF THE REST =============

Palembang Drunken Monks (2-0) at Saigon Whores (2-0)
NAGA CONFERENCE

Ever since last season ended, the only thing we have heard from the Whores is how they're going to beat every team in the league by 100 or more points. And how they're then going to track down your mom, pay her less for sex than she usually charges, kick her out with goo on her chin and not give her bus fare back to her cardboard box.

Or something like that. I admit I didn't really read through all 50 of those threads.

So far, the Whores have backed up some of that talk despite looking almost mortal in a dominating win last week against the Snakeheads.

The Monks, on the other hand, started with a cupcake game and then easily handled the Hustlers in Week 2. The score last week wasn't eye-popping, but there could also be a little bit of gamesmanship at play here for both teams, knowing that this matchup was looming.

Will the Whores back up their talk against a strong team like Palembang? A dominating win here would bode poorly for anyone's chances of keeping them from what seems like a pre-determined World League berth in Season 16.

THE EXPERTS: Whores 4, Monks 0

<0> drifting grifter <0>
Saigon is the top dawg in NAGA until someone proves they can stop them. While upsets are possible, I just don't see one here. Saigon wins 50-20

<0> kcfdx <0>
Whores - Word to the wise (i.e. Monks): These whores have no conscience, and know no religion. When you are drunk, they'll screw you and steal your wallet the same as anyone else.

<0> MadCow DTD<0>
Another match up of DTD teams. Stout and Boomy are both good drunks who do the DTD title well, But it doesnt matter if stout is drunk or not, his dots are better, and tarren has a 30 day ban and prob scouted out all 16 games this season. Sucks for The monks, Whores by 17

<0> MDterpsBBall03 <0>
The league has already declared the Whores as the best team in the league, and rightfully so. They have a completely stacked team who I think would be a playoff team in the world league this season. The Monks look promising this season, but there is just no stopping the whores. I'll take them winning 53-20.

<0> Dujoman <0>
Whores. More a gut feeling than anything else.

Buffalo Rampage (2-0) at Lucid D.R.E.A.M. (2-0)
GARUDA CONFERENCE

Buffalo, Buffalo, Buffalo ... who the hell are these guys? Are they still the team that can come out of nowhere last season to give Bangalore its only regular season loss? I hate trying to predict these guys, because you seriously never know which team is going to show up.

The DREAM is on the opposite end of the spectrum. They're born fighters and they really show up when it comes time to go toe-to-toe. No matter who they play, you always know the other guy isn't going to walk away without spending some frightening moments pinned against the ropes.

With Bangalore's loss to Tet last week putting the Offensive in the driver's seat for now, the winner of this game will automatically become the team with the only real chance of taking the No. 1 seed from the Offensive.

THE EXPERTS: Lucid 2, Buffalo 1

<0> CMON <0>
Buffalo looks like it has taken a big step back this season. They are still looking like a playoff team but not a front runner like in seasons past. Lucid is looking to be a top 3 team this year and should make some noise against teams like TET and Bangalore. That being said I like Lucid in this matchup and i dont think it's gonna be close. LUCID by 35

<0> Dujoman <0>
Dream had a very easy start to the season, whereas Buffalo had to fight for their two wins, and they will fight hard in this one too, but come out on top.

<0> haole <0>
Well, crap. This means I have to cast a tie-breaking vote in a tough game to call. I think I'll give the nod to the D.R.E.A.M., who finished very strong last season and seem determined to take the next step this season. A win here would do that for them.

Alabama Tidesports Crimson Tide (1-1) at Hong Kong Hustlers (1-1)
NAGA CONFERENCE

The Hustlers make the Experts' list of games for the second week in a row after a tough loss to the Monks last week. Alabama is still rubbing the sore spot left behind after a rough reaming by the Smurfs.

But this is a game between two potential playoff teams in Naga, and one that might end up having a lot of implications when it comes time for playoffs seeding.

THE EXPERTS: Hustlers 5, Alabama 0

<0> driftingfrifter <0>
HKH gets on track with a good, albeit young and inexperianced, Alabama team on the table next. HKH wins 33-1

<0> kcfdx <0>
Hustlers - Golly, the Tide just got off the bus in the big bad city looking to have some fun. What they found was a hustler around every street corner. I hope they bought round trip tickets.

<0> MadCow DTD <0>
Neither team seems to be playing as well as they hoped. Hong kong seems to have recruiting problems, probably because they suck. And The Crimson Tide just lost by 100 to a team of drunks and Minnesotans. All they do is play hockey and you lost by 100 to them. Doesnt look good for Bama, Hong Kong wins by 15

<0> MDterps <0>
Alabama's win came against an extremely under leveled team, and it was still relatively close. Meanwhile, the hustlers looks like they could be on the fence for a playoff spot. I'll take the hustlers 28-13.

<0> driftinggrifter <0>
Hustlers. Experience will prevail yet again.

Hell's Reapers (1-1) at Singapore Canes
GARUDA CONFERENCE

Singapore probably didn't figure they would play two of the most intriguing games in the first three weeks of the season, but this is a team (to me) that looks like a legitimate sleeper in an otherwise strongly-tiered Garuda conference.

Are they the best of the second-tier and ready to make a claim for the top tier? Hell's Reapers is a solid second-tier team, so if the Canes want to play with the big boys, they have to show they're able to put away solid teams like the Reapers.

THE EXPERTS: Canes 2, Reapers 0

<0> CMON <0>
Singapore had a nice win last week and I'm not so sure about Hell's yet. jury is still out. Canes are going to finish somewhere around .500 and in order to contend for a playoff spot they are going to need to beat teams like this one. Canes by 14

<0> Dujoman <0>
Canes will have an above average season and it all starts now.
