It seems like this might be a big part of the problem? Sacks are a pretty big moral hit and though your conf is at 60 it may not be enough if you're on your back 31 times.

how much would you say may be enough for this to be back the way it was 4-5 seasons ago?

would you say that anything over 100 in a stat would be a waste, and instead shoot for something like some of the Dline do, where each stat (in this case, throwing, vision and conf) are all right around equal, as close to 100 as possible>

Even before archetypes I was told to get my QB to 3x confidence at some point. As a pocket passer your QB has only 3 majors and one of them is confidence. That should tell you how important it is (of course running QBs don't even have stamina as a minor so go figure).

But that's OK my QB has 68 confidence, about the same throwing and 10 more vision and I have the same problem anyway,

So, how much CNF is enough - 75, 80, 90?...

I hope not!

Well I can tell you less than 60 is not enough. My QB is currently 24-2 when he isn't sacked and 27-9 when he doesn't throw an INT. But when he is sacked he is 8-17 and when he throws an INT he is 5-10. It seems that once the moral loss from throwing an INT or taking a sack hits him he tends to play a lot worse.

I know that this is a theoretical sim game, and it's not even supposed to be close to real life. However, the thing that gets me in all of this is just how far outside of reality it's become for passing in general (and QB's as a direct result) since the changes over the last 2 seasons. I mean seriously, a HB in GLB can easily expect a 2,500 - 4,000 yard season with 75 TD's even if his build isn't "Complete" yet. But a QB with an equally completed build will be the Ryan Leaf of GLB.

If an attribute stat at 100 is considered equal to say the skill level of the top 10 QB's in the NFL, and an attribute stat at 48 is considered equal to a starting senior college player, then even with a build of 100 Thr, 75 Vis, 60 Str, & 60 Conf should put a player at the performance level of a mid-level NFL QB. Someone like say, a Matt Schaub, Eli Manning or Donovan McNabb. ALL of those guys threw over 60% completions, and maintained a QB rating in the upper 90's.

Conversely, a player in GLB with the above mentioned attribute stats plays more like Jamarcus Russel, in that he'll have a few decent games here & there, but for the most part he takes a bunch of sacks & throws a bunch of INT's & is never able to get anything going at all.

And to say that you need a good O-line for a QB to be successful, I say that the same problem exists for O-Line players in GLB. It seems that unless you have the equivalent to a Pro-Bowl lineman at EVERY O-Line starting position AND their backups, your QB might as well call the mortuary & book a time slot for himself.

METHINKS SOMETHING IS BORKED IN GLB-LAND.

My QB is now throwing at a 43.8% completion rate. 52.6 QB rating, 2 TDs, 5 INTs. Still in his early stages of development, but has a solid build - Lvl 37 - 105 throwing, 61 strength, 82 vision, and 50 confidence. Basically can't complete anything consistently... pretty annoying.

All I can say is that the Oline/Wr's matter more than anything.
Here is my QB that finished with a solid last season at 140.6 QB rating and 58.7% completion
This season he can not complete anything (25.6%) and 37 Qb rating.

Jamarcus Russell had a good game?

Actually I think they are better this season. My QB has thrown 32 TD's against 0 INT's so far. This isn't a flash in the pan though, the past 4 seasons have been 41-11, 48-6, 81-3, 76-7. By no means is he the best QB on GLB, but good O-Line protection is key plus a good supporting cast. Without these he is nothing.

There are so many variables though:

QB personal tactics
Receivers Builds
OC Game planning
O-Line strength & depth

Looking at the replay of your last game it is down to your offensive style. Your team is rush first pass second and you use a rushing QB to. So you only had 10 attempts. Most of which were on 3rd & long, and you tried to bullet the balls into double/triple coverage for 20 yard gains. Its high risk high reward stuff. It was quite predictable hence why you ended up with 2 INT's.

I would definitely change your tactics to about -50 open man and get the OC to implement some shorter passing routes.

all those variables exist in the NFL... different QB personalities (Brett Farve vs Rex Grossman - who you want in the fourth?), different reveivers (T.0. v Justin Gage, who you want in your #1 spot?), Different OC's (John Schoop v. Mike Martz) and O Line strength (Emmit's Line for Dallas or last season's Detroit line). Still ALL but the worst NFL QB's hit 60%. Your Point -1 Oppossing point +1
