If anything, that should be a bonus. Fast and agile receivers run the best routes around, over the possession receivers. Wes Welker, Steve Smith, etc.

Wes Welker is not a speedster he's a possession receiver BECAUSE he runs crisp routes.

Randy Moss= Speedster (just tries to run past the defender)

Wes Welker = Possession (Crisp routes great hands fast feet)

Randy Moss runs some of the best routes of ANY WR in history. The SA "penalties" are simply to differentiate between the archetypes.

There is no reason a speedster can't get RR up. I fully plan on doing it with my speedster.

What about speedster TEs that can get RR up?

No. Randy Moss does not. He's peerless in many areas, but route running isn't one of them.

HOWEVER, I can make a better case.

Marvin Harrison. Great speed, and one of the best route runners in history.

You could also go the other way. Jerry Rice: awful speed, the greatest route runner ever.

Jerry Rice had awful speed? This is news to me.
40 time =/= speed in the game.

He ran a 4.7 at his combine, I consider that slow for a pro level WR. Not plodding but I'm sure Deion Sanders or Darell Green would be worried about him getting over the top of him.

Who cares what 40 he ran. When he put the pads on he ran faster than any CB except Deion and even then Deion couldn't always cover him. You rarely run in a straight line in football anyway so the 40 is so overrated.

lol..

Do you even watch football?

Possession WR's are KNOWN for being great route runners. NYG Steve smith, Wes Welker, Amani Toomer etc are all possession guys that run incredible routes. Thats how they are able to free up their breaks so they gain a step on a faster CB.

Your post couldnt be further from the truth.

Randy Moss is a great route runner? Thats news to me.. And Tom Brady.

Brady even said last off season that he wanted Moss to work on his route running because it started getting sloppy towards seasons end.

In season 1,the 1st player I ever created was WR Flash Skywalker...He was going to be a balanced, yet studly receiver as i focused on all abilites and did pretty well in building him for the game being new as myself.

Then I looked at how much better of WR's in the League there were and their stats, trophies awards, etc. There was absolutely NOTHING spectacular about my player besides the fact,he might have been top 5 or 10 in GLB in drops.

That's it! lol

Well,I now have my 2nd created WR ever in a Speedster/Archetype called Hugh "Bones" Taylor.

He slow builded for 1 season on Washington Extreme and then I was ready to see what he could do in D-League. I was very pleased...

Although he didn't win any awards as a WR,he still managed 51 catches for almost 1,200 yards in his rookie season. Not too shabby...

But his returning abilites are ridiculous....

Over 4,500 yards on Kick returns on 120 returns...
38.7 yard average
and 24 TD's...

he won 2 awards on just yards and TD's his 1st season as a Kick returner....

I have one simple plan for the guy....to make him the fastest WR in the game period!

While Training Catching,Vision and Agility thru combos (and stamina)

My point? No way was my stud Punter going to take the sucky Archetype punter option...but i couldn't pass on making my WR ...a speedster. +.40 in speed...you bet! I'll take it...

Plus remember...WR was the only Position that was Ass-backwards on Majors/Minor skills ALG's...

The other position that was a steal to turn your guy into an Archetype player???

Scrambling Qb
.67 in Agility,Vision and Throwing....while a .25 in speed...?

I'll take that too....cap his passing attributes 1st,then make him a speed demon...lol

I was wondering I chose catch in stride for my archetype and would like to change it to catch fake. Is that possible and if so how do I do that?

Click on your Bonus Tokens, there should be a tab (last one maybe?) that has Special Abilities. It'll let you swap the SA right there. Won't let you change the player Archetype, but will let you change the SA that you picked when you selected that archetype.

Before Archetypes you got a .33 in Speed / Agility / Carry / Jumping / Stamina / Vision

With Power you get almost the same Development
Power Receiver

Major Attributes: Agility, Carrying, Catching, Strength, Vision (+.4)
Minor Attributes: Confidence, Speed, Stamina (+.33)
Favored Special Abilities: None
Penalized Special Abilities: None

Whats the problem

The one thing I didn't like is that their isn't much Difference between Speedster and Returner;
Speedster should of Favored 1st Step / RR and Penalized Sticky / QC

OH sorry.

I'm not comparing them to the old WR's. I"m comparing them to the players who will defend them, all of which have vastly better natural build growth.

WR's got a little bump, but CB's and LB's got a MASSIVE buff. LB's, DE's, DT's, and DB's all have the potential to be faster than a WR.

You, honestly, can't see how that might develop into a problem 8 seasons from now?

So a DB is faster than a WR? The horror! That isn't real! Oh wait...

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

No wait....

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Are you serious? Moss is a lot of things, but great route runner is not one of them. Try fast and big, athletic target. Being able to run past someone does not make you a great route runner. It makes you fast. Look at the patterns Moss runs. Hitch, hitch and go, slant and sluggo, and maybe an occasional skinny. That's pretty much it. Welker or WR number 2 runs the precision routes. How many of Tom Brady's picks a season can be attributed to Moss being at the wrong place at any given time? If it's more than 1, that's too many, and it is.
