I have read that it may be better to not pick an archetype for some positions, K's P's and DL in some instances based on the different ALGs. Could any body clarify this or explain numbers wise?

I currently have a level 25 NT and not sure if I should even select an archetype.

I probably would not choose an archetype since there's so much to gain with ALGs at level 25 honestly. It's too bad too because I feel like having that bonus SA gives a lot of versatility as far as AEQ goes.

Yeah, I probably will do that I think its a bit easier decision for a Strength Run stopper than for a pass rusher. the SA's don't excite me too much but if I was a Pass rusher there are some good ones.

Which ones?

DEs and run stopping DTs shouldn't choose, definitely, because of the penalty SAs and the Vision major skill.

If you have the option not to pick an archetype as a run stuffer NT, stay archetypeless. I wish I could on my new NT

I have a Level 22 DE. Why do the disadvantages of choosing an archetype outweigh the advantages?

Cause you have better ALGs right now than any of the archetypes, and a lot of levels in front of you yet.

After reading some or the tester feedback, I am also having problems deciding if my level 27 pass rushing DE should choose an archetype or stick with the old development system. The biggest downside with the pass rusher archetype seems to be that strength has been swapped as a major for vision. Not to mention the lack of any amazing, must have custom SAs and that jumping has been completely removed from ALGs.

All of which seem to favor not picking an archetype but what I have been wondering is with the original system are minor ALGs being wasted in blocking? Towards the end of the description on blocking for a DE it says, "knowing how to block will help your DE shed blocks a bit easier". Is this even a big factor at all when rolling for a shed block or is it marginal at best?

Marginal at best. The old ALGs are still better, though.
