Boomer
A boomer punter focuses on punting the ball with power. He is less likely to hit a coffin corner or pin the opponent deep, but he gets great hang time and can get the ball far down field when needed. This power can lead to more touchbacks, however.
Major Attributes: Confidence, Punting, Strength
Minor Attributes: Agility, Jumping, Vision
Favored Special Abilities: None
Penalized Special Abilities: None
Technician
A technician punter focuses on accurate punting. He can hit coffin corners and pin the opponent deep without getting touchbacks, but he lacks power. The hang time and distance of his punts tend to be lacking.

Minor Attributes: Agility, Jumping, Strength

Now for either type I would still do punting up past 80, before the equipment. But now with the 2 types one makes vision a minor ability, and makes strength the major. So based on that, after getting confidence to the 3rd cap, I would then worry about my 3rd major to the 3rd cap first and foremost. So if it's vision then so be it, if not, then it's strength to the 3rd cap. One slight change in the way to build them.
Honestly, for a punter I would do vis/str before confidence:
5th cap punting
4th cap str
4th cap con
4th cap vision
everything else
Swap vis/str depending on AT.

Put all skill points into Punting until you get it to 68 natural. You really don't need to put anymore points into Punting after that. After that you will just be wasting too many points. Spending 4-5 skill points to raise punting 1 is not wise. With auto level bonus + EQ at level 45 you will have about 127 Punting & over 132 by level 48. I agree with Vis/STR over Vis/Con for a Punter.
Here is my level 45 Punter:

You're assuming the old 1 - .75 - .56 - .42 punting levels gains. You cannot get those anymore with the new ATs. it's now .66 - .49 - .37 - .27, like str on a DT.
If you take punting to 68 at level 9, and train it over for 69, you will have 86.71 punting at level 45.

As a punter you should NEVER put any skill points into anything except Punting, Strength, Confidence, Vision. Nothing else matters. Jumping is a good training partner and as I recall helps punters a little. My punter has 20 stamina and has never dropped below 80 energy, even when kicking 15+ punts.
With the new archetypes punting should be taken to at least 77 where the cap gap shortens up, then choose 2 of strength or vision or confidence as your #2 and #3. Which of these you choose will define how your punter punts. Here's how the 4 attributes work together:
Punting: Generally makes your punter not suck and do really good. That's the best description I have for it. With high punting you won't kick shorter than 30-35 yards except the shankiest shanks . . . and frequently much further.
Strength: Makes your punter kick farther and higher. Especially higher. I notice that punters with more strength don't kick a LOT further (my precision punter still has 1st or 2nd best punt avg year in year out), but they do kick for distance more consistently and have better hang time.
Confidence: This affects not only standard things that confidence affects, but also coffin corner punting. Confidence makes your player more likely to attempt a coffin corner, and more likely to attempt them from a greater distance. It's not necessary to take confidence much past 61 (at the end of the build) unless you really want to try some long coffin corners. If technician is your goal you should take confidence to 61 right off the bat.
Vision: Affects coffin corner kicking. You need confidence to attempt a coffin corner, but you need vision to nail it. Confidence without vision results in a lot of 65 yard touchbacks.
SA's: Generally Big Boot is good for all types, it fires off huge punts at random which is nice. It is especially useful if you did not choose strength as one of your most important attributes. Choose one of the other two depending on your focus.
