Nah I know how expensive it is to boost and equip all of my players so I was like wow! I'm actually looking to trade some of my players for a more active roster and cash LoL

Yep, wherever I go, my whole team goes with me. It's kind of like those Verizon commercials. It's embarassing, really. You ever hear 50 football players' stomachs growl at the same time? It's not a pleasant sound.....

BTW, did anyone mention "NO WHINING?" I swear I want to straggle the next person that complains that their player didnt get 50 plays, when we only gave up 60some total. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR I'm so glad GODS have lightning bolts because I'm about to use some.

Really, it actually does prove my point about why I prefer to own my own players and why "active Forums" is not always such a big positive. The most active threads tend to be the ones where people are bickering back and forth. That may appeal to some, but it's just not what I'm here for.

Ironically, I've been posting on a forum with him for about five years. He's a shit-talker, but generally a good kid. The bulk of the Mels are made up of guys from that board, and combined with a few guys like Dranar that our owner recruited that have fallen right into the mix and are good dudes who build good players.

I think that's the right way to build a team, rather than worrying about 34 different people, or spending all that money and time yourself, get a dozen or so people you know and trust and everybody builds a few good players. When you own 3 guys on the team, you're not going to be bellyaching about 1 or 2 of your guys getting inadequate playing time, and you're going to be more interested in the success of the team anyway, and that's really the tone of our team board. That's how the Squirrels did it, as well as a majority of the other good teams I've glanced at.

Which is not to say if you're that into the game, you can't be successful using your strategy. I will say, if you're gonna spend that kind of time or money, I think somebody like you should DEFINITELY be offered some sort of discount, unfortunately, that's not gonna happen with the demand for teams being where it's at.

I don't think there's a uniform "right" way to build a team. There may well be a "right" way to build a team for each individual, but not one "right" way for EVERYBODY. If what you're doing works for you, then it's "right" for you. More power to you. I just want to be able to build a team the way that's "right" for me. Right?

When you get a good group of guys together with many people contributing, it often turns out to be more (MUCH more) effective than the single owner model. The Squirrels are a great example of that--they won AND they seemed to have fun. Terrific and more power to them! Unfortunately, there is great variability and very little control over the ability to join a team like the Squirrels because you don't know in advance which teams are going to be ok and which ones are going to screw you over. Gary Gangstaz were a great example of THAT. Those players who were betrayed by that team felt completely blindsided. You just can't tell who you can trust sometimes, so I just chose to sign with someone I KNOW I can trust----me!

I don't advocate requiring other people to build their team the way I do mine. What I find frustrating is the lack of reciprocation:
---people telling me that I HAVE to build a team the way they built theirs (usually right after they have lost to a team like mine--check out these types of threads in the Forums and you'll find that in the vast majority of cases, the OP posts the thread right after losing a game to a team whose owner owns most of his players. Apparently this epiphany only seems to occur when people LOSE to one of these teams, but hardly ever when they beat one.)
---claiming that I am somehow cheating ("Unfair!!! Unfair!!!") because I DON'T build a team the same way they do even though Bort has addressed this issue directly by saying the game is "working as intended"
---the insulting implication that the only reason they lost is because I "violated the spirit of the rules" by building my own team because it couldn't possibly be that I actually had a superior gameplan or tactics. Nooooo, it HAD to be because I had an unfair advantage. Hogwash! Your delusional conceit is showing.

So, I say live and let live. Build your teams your way, I'll build my teams mine, and let's all have fun.

BTW, when you do own all your players, you usually buy FPs in bulk, so in a way we DO get a discount....but thanks for the thought!!!

Oh, that's not what I'm implying whatsoever. If you have that kind of dedication to this, then I say more power to you, maintaining a strong team is a reward of doing that well. I don't really spend that much time on the general public GLB boards other than to read up on some guides, so I didn't know there was this stigma attached to it, so I understand why you're defensive. But I assure you I just found the conversation interesting, and just wanted to add my two cents. It's a game, and if you're willing to spend the time and money (I forgot points can be purchased in bulk, I did previously wonder why they would bother offering a 1000 dollar package), then why shouldn't you be allowed to control every extension of it? Completely live and let live.

Well, I can't imagine the ladies are terribly interested in a guy that spends 100s of dollars(not to mention hours of the day) on a MMORPG.

I'm not saying i'm not nerdy, because I most definitely am, and most people that play this game probably are, but owning your own team is on a whole different scale.

Surely you don't level each player up 3 levels each season do you?? That right there is probably 13,200 points, or around $85

But hey, your team is winning, and if that does it for you then more power to you...
