As the agent and former GM for successful teams such as the Laredo Lesbians, I have decided to hang 'em up after 13 seasons of owning players. I have discovered that I no longer have the proper amount of attention to devote to the game and produce a consistent winning player.
I had been thinking about this decision ever since the Laredo Lesbians folded after season 11, and retired my last player still remaining there. However, I kept some other players alive, hoping for a return to a similar situation, but being on teams I didn't care about, and wasting flex on boosting wasn't gonna go on forever.
I'm thankful for the experience I've had. GLB kept me up many a night when I had nothing else going on. I have a list of people to thank and recognize. The first is Bort for making this all possible. Without him, I wouldn't be here.
I'd like to thank DrunkenCowboy, known to me as Laredo#51#Proud, for introducing me to the game after I got booted off the Arena Football League Message Board, or AFLMB. He started and owned the Lesbians, and had a committment to turn them into a first-class organization, remembered in GLB history as one of the last teams to promote into USA Pro before the World League started, thereby technically making it into the highest level possible at the time.
I'd also like to thank KCHopeful, my best friend on the game, for being my pansy everytime I brought up the diverging fortunes of the Saints and Chiefs. I wish I could remember every former Lesbian agent, but it's been a while and if you read this, you know who you are. Some I do remember are DRAGONFIRE, FIREBIRDFan, patriot54, littlereik, phillyflyersfan, gw, Hawks_Season_Ticket_Holder, dallas316, Ewok, and FTR.
The Lesbians stumbled through their first three seasons, until DrunkenCowboy made a decision to bring in help that would alter the course of GLB history. He brought in Domer, a former center for Notre Dame basketball IRL, and limecuda to help coach and GM the Lesbians. With their help, and some new players, the Lesbians had three consecutive 14-2 seasons, and five straight playoff appearences, culminating in a USA AAA Western Conference championship. My guys played vital roles throughout the run, Robbie Mac as a run-stuffing, fumble-forcing DE and special teams gunner, and Ricky Fats as a center blocking for two awesome running backs.
Our season in USA Pro didn't go as we had liked, but it was nice to get the status on our resume. We were able to stay for another season if we liked, but DrunkenCowboy decided we should rebuild to stand a chance of ever making the World League. We were placed in a brutal Western Conference with the Lincoln Navigators, Nashville Hounds, Ketchikan Kampers Adventure Rentals, and Minnesota Marauders.
I'd like to thank our rivals, such as the LUELinks LUEshis, with whom we played many memorable games, owned by Jerichoholic and DragoonNite. This season 6 meeting shall live on forever, http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=218915
We were down 42-17 and outscored the LUE 35-7 over the last 19:05 for the amazing 52-49 win. Robbie Mac made a key play in the win, forcing a fumble that was returned for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. Their rivalry kept me caring, and I'd like to thank them.
Another rivalry that galvanized us was against the Chicago "MB" Bears, owned by Whatsdafus. He talked so much trash against moderators that the entire league moved to a private forum where they could post in peace. He was famous for talking a big game and flaming out in the playoffs season after season. In Season 10, we ran up against PierreThomas and the Chocolate City Cha Chings. They gutted in USA Pro, and sold off their players for money temporarily. They reconvened, with crappy chemistry, and started a thread saying they wanted some of the Lesbians. Bort read it apparently, and matched them and us up in week 1. The CCCC won, ran through their schedule 16-0 while we clinched the #1 seed at 13-3, and set themselves up for a rematch for all the marbles. They won again, but both teams went up to USA Pro. I like to think that the CCCC and us pushed each other that season, the best of my GLB career. Pierre, we might have been rivals then but WHO DAT BABY!!!!!!!!!!
I'd also like to thank Iruleall15, for giving us comedy early on in my GLB career, with Bobby Winland's exploits, and his comical misuse. I'd also like to thank the people at the Trash Talking forum for starting a thread titled "1,000 posts for a Saints epic playoff failure" and only getting to about 200, even as I baited them this january. I'd also like to recognize my referral, voodeaux, who has built a very successful GLB career himself, GMing a World League team.
What will my future be? If you see me log-in, I'll be on the Trash talking forum repping the Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints.
Super.
Bowl.
Champion.
New.
Orleans.
Saints.
just to rub it in
(hence my avatar until the next Super Bowl)
After my last contract expires in season 15, I will not make any more players. I will still hang around forums and keep an eye on how the game progresses and who progresses, my old friends, etc.
I just want to say au revoir, aloha, bye! and good luck in the playoffs.
