I just wanted to thank Anchorage for a very exciting game last night. It was great to start off the season with a game that went down to the wire like that one did.
Summary: They came out and hit a 50+ yard field goal in each of the first two quarters to take a 6-0 halftime lead. In the third, we came out with our first drive and hit a FG to cut the lead to 6-3, and then got a pick for 6 with around 5 minutes left in the third to take the lead 10-6.
Fourth quarter rolls around and Anchorage hits a 44 yard pass on what looked an awfully lot like a pick play...
Anchorage takes the lead back 13-10. We each have a possession where the defenses hold, and then with 4:40 left Fresno starts marching. With 1:47 on the clock on the Anchorage 31 Fresno takes a 5 yard sack on third down which is probably just enough to move us out of FG range and we turn the ball over on downs the next play, game over.
I realize I'm not a very good story teller but it was a great game. Congratulations to Anchorage and I hope Steven Marshall didn't have to buy a drink all night.
Good luck the rest of the year.
