Tana River, Alaska (AP): The drama of the playoff race is in full force. In the West, four teams have separated themselves. They have not technically clinched their seeds, but it would take some major upsets for any to lose their current standing. Behind them, five teams are fully alive battling for the four remaining slots. Both Eugene and Possum Trot helped their cause last week with wins. A win by either team will clinch a playoff birth. Long Beach and Los Angeles are still in charge of their own destine despite their losses last week. Chicago wasn't able to capitalize on this though as they dropped their game as well. The best chance Chicago now has is to win out and hope Los Angeles loses one of their remaining two. This won't be an easy task for the Inferno as their last game, Ottawa makes the trip south. Despite their record, Ottawa is no push over.

The Eastern Conference is even more jumbled that the West. The top three teams have solidified their playoff births. After those teams it starts to get interesting. One game separates the fourth seed from the seventh seed. There are then three teams fighting for the eighth seed. Of these teams Crescent City has the most favorable schedule. Saint Paul must meet Los Angeles in their intra-conference game. Philadelphia travels to battle the West's fourth seed, Mighty Chihuahuas. FC Hezbollah takes on 10-Yard Fight this week.

The games to watch this week are FC Hezbollah at 10-Yard Fight. If the Fight can win this game, they should be in the playoffs. Hezbollah shouldn't need a win here to make the playoffs as they have an easier intra-conference game. Crescent City could destroy the Beef Supreme's hopes. Bonita has two difficult games remaining so their playoff chances are a long shot. The Express hope to end their losing streak when they battle the Chihuahuas. This game could make or break Los Angeles' season.

Tana River, Alaska (AP): Over the past few games, we've spoken mostly about the playoff race. Today we'll give a short overview and look more into a couple teams. In the West, the fifth through eighth seeds are still up for grabs. Eugene can capture the fifth if they can put out the Blaze. A loss could drop them down to seventh. Long Beach and Possum Trot are the two teams that could move up with a win and a loss by Eugene. Chicago and Los Angeles are still fighting for the remaining playoff seed. If Chicago wins, they are in. Los Angeles had control of their own destine, then dropped three straight games.

The East also has a few seeds up for grabs. If Saint Paul wins, they claim the fourth seed. If they lose, Crescent City has a chance to jump them in the standings. Crescent City is also one of the hottest teams in the East as they have won their last seven games. Like the West, there are two teams that are fighting for the eighth seed. Tampa Bay and 10-Yard Fight share the same record, but the Fight own the tie breaker. Things look slim for the Krakens as they face off against the best of the West. Pencil the Fight in for the playoffs.

We move away from the playoffs to look at how some teams faired this season. Both favorites from the pre-season have gone undefeated in conference play. Honolulu has surfed through their Western foes while Tecmo has pounded the East into submission. We also decided to look at some of the Unofficial Pre-season Rankings.

#1 Tecmo All Stars
#2 Honolulu Beach Boys
#3 LA Express
#4 Long Beach DUB All Stars
#5 New Orleans Night Trippers
#6 Crescent City Saints
#7 Awesomeville Bearphins
#8 New Jersey Blaze
#9 FC Hezbollah
#10 Mighty Chihuahuas
#11 Tana River Ewoks
#12 Timpanogos Thunder
#13 Chicago Inferno
#14 Eugene Slugs
#15 Possum Trot Plague
#16 Philadelphia Pidgeons
#17 Dallas Hitmen
#18 Houston Toxins
#19 Seattle Buffaloes
#20 Minnesota Moutain Lions

The biggest disappointments in the league have been Los Angeles from the West and New Orleans from the East. After being selected as pre-season top five teams, both could miss out on the playoffs. New Orleans is riding an eleven game losing streak into Mangabey Stadium. The chances of leaving with a victory are low. Los Angeles has a better chance to win their intra-conference game. They must travel to Fire and Brimstone to take on the Vulcans. This game could go either way, but LA has been struggling lately. Missing the playoffs would be a big turn around from being the third seed in last season's playoffs.

Two teams that have surprised many are the Possum Trot Plague in the West and the New Jersey Blaze. The Blaze are not a flashy team, but they take care of business. They have had some close games this season but have continued to win. Their only loss on the season came against Tecmo. This is good improvement over last season when they entered the playoffs as the seventh seed. Possum Trot is playing well. They also don't make a lot of noise, but have improved over last season. It came down to the final game of the season before Possum Trot snatched a playoff birth from the Long Beach Dub All-Stars. This season, they have already secured a spot and are looking to move up in the seeding.

Tana River, Alaska (AP): It has been an exciting season. Everything has been building to this day. Emotions have been flying high and dreams have been crushed. When all is said and done, two teams still stand. One was a favorite to host the championship game. The other is more of a surprise. The teams that did not make it are already looking to next season. Many have already been active recruiting.

The Tecmo All Stars were the league pre-season favorites. They have lived up to their expectations. Behind a great defense, the team has rolled through the Eastern Conference. In only six games this season have they given up double digits against an opponent. In the playoffs, no team has broken the double digit barrier. They look to continue their dominance today under the strong arm of Pepper. They also have one of the best secondaries in the league. During the regular season, they intercepted opposing quarterbacks 54 times to lead the league. They also led the league in pass deflections with 239. This is even more impressive knowing they were 4th lowest in the league for defensive plays with a total of 1347. In the playoffs, they have not let off. They have produced 6 more interceptions. They have also produced five sacks to lead all the playoff teams.

The Tana River Ewoks had a harder time finding their way to the League Championship game. During the season, they dropped two games. During the playoffs, they have been able to exact some revenge on these two teams. They first headed to Utah to defeat the Thunder in the second round. They then headed west to Hawaii to escape with a win against the Beach Boys. They have also relied on a strong defense. During the season, only six teams had broken the double digit barrier against them. Timpanogos Thunder scored the most at 37 points. Other than that, only two teams have been able to score 20. They are also lead by a strong secondary which has produced eight interceptions during the playoffs. This leads all playoff teams. They also lead the playoff teams with a total of 57 pass deflections. Their defensive line has also been able to pressure the opposing teams quarterback, as they have totaled 21 hurries and three sacks in the playoffs.

This game looks like it could turn into a defensive struggle. There is also a side note. This will be the All Stars final game together. After today, the players will leave the team and find a new home to play. That doesn't mean the Ewoks will roll over for them. Sources have said they have been practicing harder than any game previously. When Big Dogg Pemberton, starting ROLB, was asked about the upcoming match outside the locker room he state, “Oh yeah we have a game today. I should find my jersey.” He then turned to a teammate and asked if the teammate had seen his helmet.

As we move away from the Championship game, we take a look at the other teams in the league. There have been some surprises this season. In the East, the Blaze have exceeded most people's expectations by capturing the second seed in the playoffs. Look for them and Awesomeville to battle it out for the first seed next season. Awesomeville made the Eastern Conference Finals for the second season in a row, just to be denied again. They will restock and try for a third. At this point, the Blaze and Bearphins are the favorites to make the Eastern Conference Championship game next season. Many things can happen in the off season though. A team may find a few key players and turn their season around.

In the West, the Beach Boys also lost their second Western Conference Championship game. They are also hoping the third time is a charm. They will once again be a favorite to make the game next season. Their likely opponent is the Timpanogos Thunder. These teams cannot sit back on their heels. Many teams in the West have been actively recruiting for next season. A few of the other teams are only a few players shy of putting together their own championship run. It will be another exciting season the the BBB 12.
