I rolled a DE. I want him to be a run stuffer. But, from looking at posts here, it seems those types of DE's are scarce. I guess there's a reason for that.
So, do run stuffing DE's not perform? Do teams actually want them?

I just rolled him earlier this morning. This is how I started him.

My personal opinion is that people don't make run-stuffing DEs because they don't put up stats. Do teams actually want them? It seems like they should but I don't know if they do...someone else would need to answer that.

Start seems fine for what it's worth.

dont worry so much about 'pass rusher' or 'run stuffer' labels. just take strength agility and speed to an absurd level and teams will want you.

At low levels especially - many Pee Wees and L14 teams are 100% run, so a STR-based run stuffer is way more useful than a SPD/AGI-based pass rusher.

I'd imagine since everyone is so damn slow the most desirable thing would be someone with speed and tackling.

not on the D-line. LB's/SS's/FS's = yes!

Pass rushing DEs are the same as run stuffing. High agility speed to get off blocks and high strength so you dont get pancaked and to help with tackles.

Not at all.

Run stuffers take STR to 74 minimum ASAP (usually 77) and then work on AGI and SPD.
All EQ goes into STR. The goal here is to have more or even STR as the offensive line while also having AGI in the 80's and SPD at 77. You're aiming to pancake your blocker or sucessfuly disengage from him to chase after the ball carrier.

STR is your main attribute to break and shed blocks, NOT AGI. Pass rushing DE's use shed block to get around their blocker. Containment DE's use STR to control, handle, and maim their blocker, no one is making any holes near this DE, and no runner is going to run through his gap.

Their is a huge difference, and any Containment DE who doesn't have STR at a natural 85 by level 34 is doing it wrong.

I'm at 83.66 natural at level 28 so my guy should easily pass that. I look to be in pretty good shape then.
