Has anybody ever done this as a base for a WR?

I want to make him a lethal "underneath" guy, who can make some quick cuts and run underneath routes, then hold on to the ball well.

What's the lowest you've seen speed be on an effective WR? I'm thinking about keeping it around 70-80. My hope is that he can get open with agility.

He'd probably need good vision and carrying as well, maybe a decent amount of confidence because he'll likely take some big hits.

Insight/ideas?

That should be answer enough.

Awesome...that's almost exactly the type of guy I had in mind.

Is there anything you would do differently, if you could start him over? What worked well or didn't work out, as far as attributes, SAs etc?

You should get Agility, Speed, Catching, Jumping, Vision, Confidence, and Carrying in order before touching Strength, due to the level gains.

I've thought about doing a strength WR. Good speed and agility, but if you popped Str up in the 80-90 range, if he could catch the ball, so really high catching and carrying stat. Then you could just plow through the CB's and safties, breaking tackle after tackle.

Not sure it would work, but it was one idea I thought about doing.

Bit more speed and just general slow building would be the general thing, would like speed up to around 80 to make him a bit more all purpose.

You'd get more impact taking carrying to 80-90 than strength IMHO.

There seems to be a common sentiment that carrying is a better attribute to push at WR than strength. Has anyone ever built a player that would provide evidence of this?

Strength helps you avoid the KL's, carrying helps you avoid the fumbles and combines with strength to help break tackles. So, it depends on what the goal is. If you just want to hold onto the ball during a catch attempt, strength is what you want.

Nope, carrying helps prevent the KL's. Strength helps fight off defenders during a catch attempt.

Counterintuitive, but yes I realized after I posted this that the attribute descriptions conflicted with what I said. Good catch.

I have a pretty good strength receiver that broke a tackle per catch

well there was a test server game that showed (using HBs... so maybe not exactly the same) that a PB with higher carrying than strength broke way more tackles than a PB with more strength than carrying (probably because carrying helps SAs like power through fire)... and the ALGs on carrying dont hurt either.

the test you are talking about had no SA it was just a high str build vs same stat points carry being major and the carry build broke way more tackles...str is for fighting out yards after contact and some broken tackle and carry is break tackle to a greater degree and no fumble.
