Yea, they can be pretty valuable. If i'm loopy i often try to clear a path for someone with the ball by emp-ing the whales and people trying to protect the goal so my guy can find an opening to shoot
I am still working my way up through the levels so I can eventually become good enough to play. I am still pretty sucky right now but I have almost gotten all the planes.
Just start playing ball now. The higher level perks don't really give you that much of an advantage, if any at all. I usually just run with double rockets, heavy armor and the turbocharger or the one that increases your max energy when I use loopy. If I use the bomber I just go with the rear bombs, the healing perk, and turbocharger. I think you can get all those perks by level 30.
Anyways even if you have all the ships and perks you will still suck at ball if you don't know how to play.
I am pretty solid at ball, I have played it a few times, the one thing I am not great at is grabbing the ball after it bounces on the wall, for some reason...my plane can never pick it up despite me flying right through it.
But yea, I love playing ball with loopy, just get the ball and turn on the speed. However, I have only faced Bots on hard/Expert so I doubt humans are as dumb as them.
