Speaking as both a veteran and current civilian, sitting on my ass, all warm and cozy, I'd like to extend my heart felt appreciation to all the current military in the field, humping boonies and keeping the bad guys on their side of the water.

It's guys like Maddencoach, someone you all know, who's over in Afghanistan right now, that makes this Disneyland that we live in so comfortable. A couple weeks ago, Maddencoach's unit suffered 4 KIA. A couple weeks before that, their Captain and Specialist were killed while simply shopping outside of the gate. But their medic survived and spent the whole evening picking bone fragments from the suicide bomber out of his own body.

It's the soldiers in the field that face reality. Everything we have here, everything that we take for granted, is a gift from them. Always has been, always will be. So thank you to all the veterans that preceded me.... to those that were with me - thank you for being by my side and to those out there currently wearing the uniform, God bless and keep you safe.

+1 quinn, that is for sure.

There is a great article in the Denver newspaper where they followed a kid around for 2 years from recruitment to deployment and got some great pics along the way. Really an interesting read:

Awesome post quinn!

My brother-in-law is getting ready for his 4th tour. He leaves next year. His truck has been hit by an IED, he has survived a blast grenade and has lost close friends. Yet, he is ready to go again. His determination to protect this country is something that inspires me everyday.

Thank you to all who defend this country!
