I can see both sides of the debate on Laces Out/OT Killer. I still can't come to the conclusion that they should be higher than booming kick or clutch. Of course, clutch pisses me off just as much since we really don't know exactly what it does.

today's game is a pretty good example of what can be achieved by a kicker when the pressure is on.

4th
0:20 1st & G OPP 1 18 yd field goal attempted by Gurd Muller, made [FG]
0:15 Kickoff by Gurd Muller, 73 yd, fielded by Jerry Rückkehr (29 yd return) [tackle: Hunter Reeps]

5th
12:20 1st & 10 OPP 29 46 yd field goal attempted by Gurd Muller, made [FG]

this was against a veteran APL team stacked with lvl 70s. we swung 6 points from the boot of our kicker from the jaws of defeat

no regrets for sure. no regrets on Laces Out

The point isn't whether or not Laces Out helps in some situations. My problem is two fold:

1. Would a team based VA like MS help the team to score more points?
2. Would your kicker have made both those FGs w/o Laces Out and/or OT Killer?

Your kicker's never missed a FG < 20 yards. And he's 54/63 lifetime from 40-49, most of the misses coming very early in his career. So did those VAs actually do any good? Maybe. Maybe not. Perhaps a bit of Motivational Speaker would have helped your team come back and win game 2 (or maybe they're already doing the +2). Does Gurd have Booming Kick? because he had trouble on KOs that game, with only 1 TB.

like Puma said, theres no chance that Laces Out had any affect on the outcome of an 18yd FG attempt, and without Laces Out, hes almost certain to make a 46yd FG anyway.

How many kicks, where the kicker has a decent chance of missing, (ie 50+) are for the tie or win in the 4th or OT. i can think of 2 in the last few seasons for my guy, and they were scrims.

i'm not saying Laces Out is bad, i just cant see the value myself.

Don't max out Laces Out, but a few points in it is good, IMO.

this was the game that made me start putting points into Laces. it was the most painful moment in his career against our fierce rivals. since then he's been on the money when push comes to shove. btw - it was a 21 yard FG attempt in OT.

as for TBs, well i haven't capped strength at 77 yet. it's on its way though and with Booming there should be better results from kickoffs

Freak occurence, nobody misses a 21 yarder. Even level 30's can hit them 99% of the time.

Perhaps if Gurd had been kicking 75 yard KOs instead of 55 yarders your team might have won in regular time. It really goes both ways, and is very hard to be certain one way or the other. Also consider this from today:

Game winning 39.5 yd FG:

Note my kicker, and his level. build is open - http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=1506119

Realize that at some point for field goals of X yards, your accuracy becomes capped. Automatic probably increases that cap a bit beyond what it would be without the SA, but your accuracy is still capped under 100% (and even with a bunch of Automatic, I seriously doubt accuracy gets over 99% at all just based on the # of short kicks and PATs that the elite kickers in the game end up missing).

Think of your kicker's accuracy as a graph, with the X-axis representing FG distance and the Y axis representing % accuracy. Your line will start out horizontal at 0, and at some point that line will start to curve downward, and then it will even out again horizontally (outside of your practical range). The way I see it, a kicker's career is basically dedicated to moving that entire line horizontally and to the right. Some attributes might have different impacts on different ranges, but in general as a kicker develops that's what will end up happening. Suppose you could build a level 72 kicker where his "down slope" in accuracy doesn't start until 60 yds; he'd still be just as likely to have shit luck on 20 yard fgs as a level 40 players would be. To take this even further, I have a feeling that a kicker with 9999 in every attribute would miss just as many FGs as the previously mentioned elite level 72 kicker.

this is all imo of course

once Confidence is beyond 80, do you really need any more?

Booming Kick, Clutch and MS should be the first 3 maxed out IMO

after that, I'd go with Laces Out

Once Kicking is 120+ (with equipment) is more really that big of a deal?
