The difference with American Football and Rugby, Union or League, is lack of blocking. American Football will cripple you especially if your a lineman. Every lineman at the pro level will have had numerous knee surgeries. Being big guys that doesn't bode well for them latter in life.

Yah you don't see 60/70 year old lineman!

This is exactly the reason that all NFL linemen have protective knee braces on both knees. Being a lineman is brutal work, and it shows on the body. Most colleges are paying to put the knee braces on their O linemen as well.

Football causes way more away from the ball injuries then rugby. To many people stumbling around knocking into your knees sideways. I personally think union rugby is a way better game then league but I've only done a bit of league when they tried making a televised semi-pro rugby league in America about 1995. Actually Lone Star Merc was there also on the pitch in Houston Texas. Of course, the money never came through and it fell apart before it got started.
Its hard to say which is a "tougher" game between league and union. I think League has more high impact hits in a single game then Union, but in Union theres a lot more fighting, stomping, gouging, general aggressiveness in the rucks and mauls. Thats my opinion as a forward (tighthead prop), if I played as a back I would probably think league was a whole lot tougher because so many more set plays.

In my late teens, early 20's I played some union rugby. In college football I played Defensive End, so playing wing in rugby I was quite a bit bigger than most other guys that would tackle me, so I really only got rocked a couple of times. However, I also purposely stayed away from the rucks with all of the crazy 40-50 year old forwards who were out there just to get in a fight and then drink beer afterwards, lol.

Passing is worse this season and Rushing QB's are becoming irrelevant.

I haven't been aware so... someone fill me in, are rushing QB's relevant in the pro leagues or world?
