After the Dire Wolves high hopes of reaching the playoffs last season they fell short and were eliminated after game 15 ending their season below .500 with a 7-9 record. The fans have however been united behind the team the entire time which is good for the city of Chicago as well as football. I had a chance to speak to the President and CEO of the Dire Wolves, Skyrek, today to get an idea of where he stood after the past season.

How do you feel about missing the playoffs last season?

Honestly it was not the ending myself or the players had foreseen. We gave it our best, but obviously there were those better than us. We wish the Alabama Crimson Tide the best as they moved up to the next level and look forward to competing for our chance next season against familar faces as well as a few new ones.

What do you think about the QB situation in Chicago? Your starter Shutdown Shipman had a Grossmanesque season afterall.

Certainly a young QB such as Shutdown Shipman will have their good and bad days. The Dire Wolves are confident in his abilities and potential and we will be giving him every opportunity to regain the starting position in the future. However, our current QB tandem is well laid out and all 3 QBs have expressed an interest in remaining with the organization so I can only see positive things from that position this season.

It seems to me your team has a very classic Chicago oriented type of mentality with a monster defense and a mediocre offense. Care to comment?

Sure Peter. Defense is a very important key and we are very proud of our Defensive aquisitions last year. They gave us the best chances to win in every game. As for the offense it was a bit shaky, but at the same time we have confidence in our players abilities. They have all been working with trainers to pinpoint the problem areas and work to improve and that we shall see next season. Also a few key aquisitions were made near the end of last season which will now be available to use the beginning of this season and that can make all the difference in bringing our offense around.

Are there any closing comments before we leave?

I am very happy with the team, the direction we are headed, and the potential we have heading in to next season as well as the future. I have spoken with the city of Chicago and they have agreed to allow us to continue by agreeing to allowing stadium construction as well as agreeing to another 5 seasons of the team being in the city.
