It does matter. But there are differing opinions on what is best.

Lots of people talk about wanting shorter guys for the "low center of gravity" (think Bort actually said that..) but in the NFL you hardly EVER see a short DLineman.

Depends on your definition of short. Short for normal person or short for NFL player?

While most DEs are 6-4+, there are plenty of DTs/NTs that are 6-1 to 6-3.

I think BJ Raji who got drafted by Green Bay was only 6', but they talked about him being a good fit at NT in a 3-4.

I don't use the script, so I had to roll quite a few times to get this frame. It's been hella effective so far.

In the NFL height matters. Taller DL are preferred at the End positions because that correlates with having longer arms. Longer arms are what you really want, we jsut talk about height because alot more people can relate to height in real life as opposed to arm length. The reason you want long arms is so that you can extend and get a hold of the opposing lineman to direct yourself, while being able to keep the offensive linemans hand off of you. The same holds true for OL which is why you see tall guys on the outsides of both lines.
when talking about bigger inside guys, height isnt as much of a factor because your inside with guys around you, therefore if you can keep a guy off of you, it doesnt matter as much because you have less room to go, altho when Pass rushing it can still matter. when run defending which is the main objective of inside guys, getting separation is less important as opposed to holding gaps and keeping a stong base in running lanes.

as for the GLB, has bort put those factors into the sim? like some people say less weight is better for pass rushers because it helps to get off the line quicker. any thoughts regarding GLB?

I have a DE that that weights 279. I wish I had paid attention to weight and got him a little smaller because he is MUCH slower than other DE's even those with less speed and agility. I assume it is the weight. I don't know what the ideal DE weight is but I think 279 is too much.

It's all about how you want to build your player and what you want him to do. Then you have to tailor the build to the height/weight.

I'd say 2nd roll since you can cap agility quicker but the 1st roll is good too.

Because D-coords like tall DL to block the view of QBs. That's why in the NFL they like to draft QBs that are at least 6-4. If you are less than that then you better be someone really special.
