I've seen too many players of the same position, with almost identical builds, have drastically different productivity over their life spans to say their isn't. Maybe it was intended that way to break up the "cookie cutter" building, that way even if two builds are identical there's an outside chance that one will see greater success because of a hidden variable.

I don't know if that's the case but it's possible.

No joke. Surely you understand that random training breakthroughs will not happen with the same frequency for all players.

I think the question is, are those variations in frequency purely random, or are some by design based upon some hidden borttribute?

I would agree, that is in question. However, that Bort quote about training breakthroughs does not necessarily imply the latter.

I've seen the same player look like Jekyll and Hyde and back again from season to season to season to season depending on what team he was on and what competition he was facing. Just sayin'. I think situation has a lot to do with how these "almost identical" players perform. Would I write off the possibility that an x-factor still exists? Certainly not. But most of the stuff that people post as their reasons for believing in it isn't compelling to me. However, comparisons like Pierre Thomas' WR's speed vs Kevin Smith's WR's speed, now that is compelling to me.

LOL, good point. All I know about the X factor is none of my dots were blessed with it. Like you said, situation has a lot to do with things and mine have had peaks and valleys depending on how they were used. Some of them have league trophies but none of them have the mojo that Duke does.

Duke does that too, tbh. But only against Black Cat Safeties.

I think the chance of getting an "x factor" or "hidden roll" or "hidden luck" is really very small. Out of the hundred + players I've had, there seems to be only one that might have it...and he's still under level 20. A SS that had 5 INT's during the season (didn't even play on pass focus), despite having only 13 catching. I own every player on the team, and have another SS with the exact same build...no INT's. Some opponents, some build, same complementary players, extremely different production. I really think it's out there, and Duke has a lot of it.

Hopefully one of my young guys has it. Their builds are ahead of schedule for their age and next season will tell me a lot with them.

Duke next season will have the Offensive MVP gear for winning it this season too. Oh man, it won't be fair having +1 to an entire SA tree If he only he wasn't 415 days old

Speaking of the MVP calc...

My kicker (Yankee Sullivan) and Kid Rock had been flip-flopping between 1/2 all season. Entering the final week, Kid Rock was one and Sullivan two.

In the final game, Rock plays a gut job, Sullivan scores 13 of Yellowknife's 19 points against Texas in a win and... The punter with the third best average in the league slips into the lead. WTF

I don't give a rip about the MVP other than the EQ that comes with it but that's pretty messed up. It was a joke to begin with that the board was littered with kickers but to have the third best punter get the bonus EQ is WTF-silly. Yeah, yeah, I know - punting average doesn't tell the whole story on punters but still - WTF?!?

Special Teams MVP is especially a joke because this hasn't been fixed yet:
