I just rolled a +1 jumping, 5% break tackles piece. should i keep it or go for a piece with + attribute and power thru?

No, break tackle % are invaluable. Once it get's to a higher level it'll be game breaking. With the right VAs, you'll be breaking 10+ tackles per game.

5% break tackle pieces are nice to have...keep it.

You might see better returns as your powerback gets his str/carrying/agi and lower shoulder/power thru up, but i've found more power thru pieces than I have 5% pieces so keep it.

Is it only valuable to powerbacks?

Break tackle is different from missed tackle. Powerbacks are built to make contact, and then break out of it, which is why its most valuable for them. Speedback are built to avoid tackles, with spins, jukes, headfakes, etc. But even the best speedbacks are going to get tackled sooner or later, and that's when break tackle is useful. To answer your question, break tackle EQ is most useful for Powerbacks, but still valuable to any ball carrier, such as WR, HB, and the occasional running QB.

yes, though if I had a back with headfake/spin/juke I'd look for a fake % aeq.

Spin counts as breaking a tackle.

Is 1st step not a desirable AEQ for Speed HBs? I've went through a bunch of AEQ threads and haven't seen anyone mention it as a good thing. most say QC/CD type. I just rolled one, so I'm wondering if I should buy.

1st step is only good for a HB if they'll be catching passes. You have to be almost stopped for it to trigger so it rarely goes of when rushing.
