Because I have a calculator and am not interested in the 55/st debate.

it takes 8,800,000 flex just to create the players to fill pee-wee.

52,800,000 to buy CE.

52,800,000 to boost.

114,400,000 flex to fill pee-wee with competitive teams.

31,680,000 flex to do it again the next season after retire/recreate.

In Bort's dreams.

Centers was the old way, the new trend is DEs. All teams are different. In Gold you need a very good DF so I like to have depth on my DF side. Before the Roster limit, I created an entire STs with Centers, my special teams would score more than our offense in half the games we played. I think they all had around 30-40 speed and they would open up huge lanes for the return guys. Made great tacklers as well. I boosted the whole set and they avg the same level as the rest of the team even though thats all they played. It won't work now though because in Gold your not going to stomp on teams 100 plus each game allowing the Centers to get the xp. That and the fact that you can now only have 55 players.

I'm totally following everything you're saying. I see the value in having an entire team on special teams a few years ago. But like you said, in Gold you're not kicking off 20+ times a game or forcing the defense to go 3&out every time, plus the fact that there are 55 man roster limits.

So what kind of value would you place on having 5-6 3rd string or special teams players in the Gold League? Do you think it makes much of a difference?

I actually see having a 55-man roster being more useful in copper/silver than it would be in Gold. Do you disagree?

Here's my 2 cents. 44 guys cover the first two strings of O and D. That leaves 11 guys to specialize for ST if you choose. Not to mention, you are probably not going to use your QB's on ST.

Your O line is probably slow because you have been working on Blocking and Strength or Agility, but not Speed. If you use those guys on ST, they are going to be behind your returner before they get to the coverage team.

Maybe you want to build a special returner. An extra blocking TE for the BW. Or FB's. Or just depth for the guys you do use on ST.

Regardless, if you go in with 48 or 50, you are going to get beat in the 4th quarter against a good 55 man roster.

In a low-scoring Gold game, having my backup OL, FB, & TE on the kick return team 3-4 times will get me beat?

Set your energy settings at 98/99 and with 3 HBs put one of them on special teams and then see how many plays he gets at HB compared to the other two. The other 2 Hbs will have around 20 plays each the 3rd which plays special teams will have about 3-4 if even that. Special teams is an energy drain pump.

Isn't a pump kind of the opposite of a drain?
