The new attribute descriptions say that confidence helps tackling:
"A confident LB is also more likely to make tackles"

I'm wondering if anyone with high-level players noticed any difference in tackling when they got to the point that they started adding confidence. Or, in any tackling related stats like FFs, Big Hits, or Monster Hits.

This is nothing new. We've known forever that morale affects tackling. (The Aure of Intimidation description basically says it.)

Aura of Intimidation lowers the offensive player's morale to make him easier to tackle.

As far as I know, this is the first time that a defender's confidence has been linked to anything other than getting up faster after being pancaked. The way that the attributes actually work on the field is often different than they're supposed to work so I was just wondering if anyone had actually seen an effect.

It not only helps in tackling, it will also cause your player to take better pursuit angles to the ball carrier.

However, don't go overboard with it. While it helps, tackling, strength, agility, and vision all play a bigger role, and you need enough speed to get into position to make the tackle in the first place.

I don't think it helps very much. Not as much as people would make you believe. You can still take crappy angles with 55 confidence...will they suddenly get better at 60?

I think confidence plays a huge factor in limiting the endless stream of missed tackles - it's helps most when you're overmatched.

You mean because of morale, right? But if your LB is so overmatched that he's going to miss 80% of tackles anyway, I don't see confidence changing that.

Quoted for emphasis.

Confidence can help prevent a downward spiral where a missed tackle causes morale loss leading to more missed tackles, but it can't compensate for low tackling/strength.
