I mean, yeah, I still gotta take speed up to 68 or 73, but will that really make the difference? I've seen nothing from this guy. Is it Vision? Do I need to get off the ball quicker?

Well........Part of it is vision...But the big part is you need to find some good AE, with shed block....You gotta remember he gotta take on 2 people, he has to have help shedding the blocks

Also, the other BIG thing you need is speed....YES it absolutely makes a 100 % difference...As I said in another thread..Speed isn't just about how fast you can run...It's about how fast you can move as well, to break a block.

If you want production out of him until you can get SB, and speed up...I would switch all the gear to strength...As it stands to be an agility guy...He doesn't have the speed to make that successful.....BUT if you switch to strength..He'll have the strength to at least combat them....(Yes a 100 strength, 80 agility build can work for now...)There's a DT on my team with a similar build of that...And he's pretty damn good....Also.....IMO JTS is worthless for a DT....If you want quick results......You need to switch your equipment to strength, and switch your VA's to heavyweight...(The other important thing your missing)...If you switch to Heavyweight.....You'll notice your guy will make a LOT of plays....Maybe not tackles, but he'll pancake a guy or 2....Leaving a nice hole for a linebacker to come in and make a play.

Another thing you gotta remember is......

DT's need 10 + shed block..

80-90 strength
80-90 speed
110 + agility

To actaully make a difference..And to get those sort've atttributes you need a lot of time..DT's take a long time to develop...More then what some people would like for a dominant one.

Or an over whelming strength build of like 120 + would work.....But most of the best DT's I've seen are speed/agility guys...

Hmm I haven't considered that. So forget being an agility DT for now, until I can get Speed up. Fix my VA's, and get some SB AE. I have an un-upgraded piece of SB AE, but I don't have it on right now. I'm still fishing for one that has a + to attribute (hopefully agility).

If you put on the SB AEQ, increase speed, and train vision, he'll become more productive almost immediately. A DT can be pretty effective with SB as low as 7 but 9 or 10 is better obviously. I'd say you can't really be any sort of a pass rusher with less than 2nd capped speed, even as a NT who simply collapses the pocket. Around 74 speed you will see a big increase in productivity.

Yea pretty much....I don't care what anyone says, speed still rules GLB....Even for a linemen who might not necessarily run to use it.

Also..Just to keep things in perspective.....When making a player, think about what I actaully want.......

Example - If I want a speed rusher at say DE.....What do I need for that ?

Speed/agility.....So both will be at least 90 +

If I want a strength DE who just stuffs the run, or at least makes sure he doesn't get pancaked so some one else can make a play....

I'm going 120 + strength..Maybe even 130 +..Triple capped agility...And soft capped speed...Maybe double at the most.

So will simply increasing speed really make that much of a difference? I mean, I'd like to think that I have a pretty well built player here, being slow-built and everything. Brought both strength and agility up to the 78-cap right away, but I didn't think Speed was as important either.

So in the end, should I even bother with Vision? Or should I just focus on Speed and Shed Block? What about confidence (thinking long-term now)? Tackling?

I'm not on the confidence bandwagon...I think if you don't get pancaked you don't need it...But others might say different..

Vision IS important...After speed, you want 60 + vision.....But yes for now you want to focus on speed and finding shed block pieces....And yes speed does make a HUGE difference....And honestly some people go nuts with tackling, and go 60-70 +....I've seen guys not miss with less then 40.

not a huge difference, but speed+shed block SA will make more of a difference than spending the same SP on vision/confidence.

once you have some effective speed, you'll also want to average more than 20 plays per game

Speed makes a big difference. It affects the DT's ability to get around the blocker. There's two parts to pass rushing, first is breaking the block, but the second is getting past the blocker.

And yes you need to get vision up, 19 is really really low and will kill you on half your plays. But just train it while working on speed. Confidence is nice but not ever really worth spending SP on imo.
