Ownership of the Kalamazoo Cougars have announced today he has changed the team nickname from Cougars to Coyotes. He felt a change was needed as a number of teams in GLB have the Cougars name as well, including conference opponent Milwaukee Cougars.

The change was decided with ease. The team wanted to keep an animal as it's name and try to pick one starting with the letters "C" or "K." Coyotes are found in the state of Michigan, and the nickname is not used in the USA Pro League. A new logo was unveiled as well.

Defensive End Cunning Stunt was quoted as saying "I like the new name, not much of a change, but as far as i'm aware we're the 1st Coyotes (in GLB)."

The Kalamazoo organization would also like to apologize to the 2,378 fans who have already bought "Cougar" jerseys.

As long as Wayne Gretzky isn't part of our team, I'm all for it.

Apologize? They should be encouraged to buy the new and even-more-stylish Coyotes jerseys!
