I was thinking about a TE build with str/agil/carrying as the highest attributes with jumping and carrying being upped as well. Speed could be trained to the first cap and just have him so he could hit top speed quickly and do short routes while being able to out muscle lbs and safeties for the ball. Thoughts?

Been talked about a lot around this forum, most people don't like the idea because you can't get open and give yourself enough space in order to break a tackle. I mainly build receiving TEs, and all of the one's I have built so far have been like WRs (speed and agility most important). I wanted a new project and I am going to try out a strength based TE.

I began just rolling for the fun of it, not really committed to the idea. It was pretty much the sweetest roll I've had for any of my players, so I decided to keep it and see what happens. Here is my build plan.

Train Strength/Carrying
Strength to 2:1 Cap
Train Catching/Vision
Strength to 3:1 Cap
Strength to 4:1 Cap
Catching to 2:1 Cap
Train Vision/Agility
Catching to 3:1 Cap
Vision to 2:1 Cap
Train Carrying/Confidence
Carrying to 2:1 Cap
Train Speed/Agility
Carrying to 3:1 Cap
Agility to 2:1 Cap
Train Speed/Stamina
Agility to 3:1 Cap
Agility to 4:1 Cap
Speed to 2:1 Cap
Train Confidence/Stamina
Speed to 3:1 Cap
Speed to 4:1 Cap

This player is going to take forever to build properly, and I may never get to SAs (not that they are great for a receiving TE anyway). We'll see what happens.

I'm not sure you'll ever be able to finish the player with wanting three attributes to 4:1 and two to 3:1. You'll have to be very precise. I certainly wouldn't put speed off as long as you do in that plan. If I was doing a build in that order, I'd stop Carrying at 2:1, then go back and forth between agility and speed caps...the auto gains are so small at those levels, it won't matter.

I did it a couple seasons ago and couldn't get a pass thrown to my guy to save his life. QBs always considered him covered even though his agility/jumping/catching/carrying should have dictated he could catch just about anything. I eventually moved equipment over to speed and bumped it up more and have gotten some better production.

The other downside is that the defense gets the first deflection role so I believe there would be passes that get batted down in tight coverage no matter what your guys numbers are.

Working on a TE with high strength & catch to see how that works.
